Update from June 25, 2022

Thank you to everyone who gathered to celebrate Roger's life. Your presence meant a lot to me and our family. For those who could not attend, we missed you, but the Celebration of Life was well attended despite the rain. We laughed, shared memories, told stories, and yes, a few tears were shed, but we enjoyed each other's company and embraced the day. To know how greatly loved and missed Roger will be brings me comfort. May we all live each day with the kindness and gratitude that Roger shared with us all.

Below is a copy of the tribute and Melanie and I shared:

Welcome Everyone. Wow!
Roger obviously had an impact on many people's lives.
All of us here are bonded to one another today with Roger as our thread.
I’d like to thank you all for being here, to celebrate Roger, to support me, and one another.
I’d like to introduce my sister Melanie to share a few words…

Good afternoon, I am Melanie Westergaard. Not only Denise’s sister, but her maid of honor at Denise & Roger’s A-Basin Wedding officiated by the “one-and-only” Judge David Lass in 1991)
After living nearly 45 years in Colorado, Roger never lost that classic Boston accent.
Denise would often have to interpret, even after asking Roger to repeat himself at least 2-3 times.
Breckenridge was home. And Roger built life-long friendships here.
Everywhere Roger went, he would run into someone he knew.
His laugh came easily. He easy-going and gave you 100% of his attention in every conversation.
If he made a ski date he was always early.

After 32 years in Breckenridge, and remodeling and expanding their home in Placer Valley, Roger retired from the ski resort and together they designed and built their beautiful new home, completed in 2020, at the foot of Mount Princeton in Nathrop, Colorado.

Roger adored his VW Vans, his dogs, and his life-long partner, Denise.
They camped and kayaked their way through the desert southwest often meeting up with Roger’s favorite brother and best friend, Paul Dionne.Make sure to grab a Koozie and bookmark that features a QR code to the video playing
inside the pavilion, courtesy of Paul. There is also an assortment of appetizers inside.

Lastly, as many of you know Roger was not an avid cell phone user. He preferred meeting up with people face-to-face. So please enjoy the company of each other, as well as meeting some new faces and share your stories.

We celebrate you Roger, and thank you for the laughter we shared, the friendships we cherish, and the memories you gave us…CHEERS!

Roger Dionne, age 69, of Nathrop, CO passed away unexpectedly on New Year's Eve. Roger and his wife Denise, were longtime Breckenridge and Alma residents from 1988-2020.
