Roger Dionne, age 69, of Nathrop, CO passed away unexpectedly on New Year's Eve. Roger and his wife Denise, were longtime Breckenridge and Alma residents from 1988-2020.

Born in Beverly, MA, Roger never lost his Boston accent, and many friends referred to him as “Raja”. He used to joke that he never “pahked his cah, but stopped his vehicle”. After graduating from Beverly High School, he was drafted during the Vietnam War and served in the United States Air Force. He attended college at Framingham State University, obtaining a BFA degree.

Roger decided to help his brother Paul move to Colorado and became hooked. The Rocky Mountains became his home. He lived in Winter Park working with Paul at the Mountain Printer, as well as slinging drinks at Snoasis, Derailer, The Slope, among many others, then met his wife Denise in 1986. They relocated to Summit County and married at A-Basin in 1991. Roger was a familiar face behind the bar at multiple establishments in Breck before working at the Breckenridge Ski Resort, making life-long friends in competition services, food service, building & maintenance, and guest services, until retiring in 2021.

Roger was an avid outdoorsman, loved dogs, and enjoyed skiing, hiking, kayaking, camping, and road tripping in his beloved VW vans. He was an upbeat, happy, quick-witted, easy-going guy who loved an ice cold beer while hanging out on a deck or around a campfire with friends. He always enjoyed engaging with people in person, in fact he was probably the last person to get a cell phone at the end of 2019.

He is survived by his loving wife Denise Dionne, mother Shirley Ganey of Danvers, MA, brother Paul Dionne and wife Sydnie of Soquel, CA, sister Kathy Bouchard and husband Guy of Beverly MA, brother Mark Dionne of Danvers, MA, sister-in law Melanie Westergaard and husband Edwin of Golden, CO, as well as nephews Roger Bouchard, Chris Bouchard, their families and many cousins.
