Bob's obituary
Bob Matthews died unexpectedly on October 10, 2023 at 62 years of age. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death. Bob was born on September 8, 1961 in Norfolk, Virginia. He is survived by his daughter Sarah, his brother Glen, his parents Lee and Alex, and countless friends. He was excited to welcome his first grandbaby into the world this coming January.
Bob grew up in Atlanta, GA and spent most of his adult life traveling and exploring the United States. He especially loved living in the Destin/Santa Rosa Beach, FL area, where he enjoyed fishing, golfing, and laughing with friends over dinner and a glass of wine. Bob may have had some struggles, but he lived life to the fullest. He would do anything for his friends and loved people deeply. He never knew a stranger and was always quick to laugh. Even in the most challenging of times, he always looked on the bright side of things and found a way to make the most of any situation.
His true passion was in food and the culinary industry, and he worked all his life in restaurants. Anyone who knew Bob knew that he was incredibly kind hearted and truly cared about people. He had an immense passion for his work and was always a source of positivity.
His surviving family and friends are grateful to know that Bob is finally at peace with his Heavenly Father, fully restored in eternity. We mourn the loss of a loving father, brother & son, and encourage any and all who knew him to remember him by the fun he brought to this world. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Services will be held at Point Washington UMC in Santa Rosa Beach, FL on November 11th at 10AM, all are welcome. We will be scattering his ashes later that day. If you would like to donate or show your support for the family, please visit our memorial website.
Bob, you are now at peace but you will live on forever in our hearts. We love you so much. May you rest in peace with the Lord in green pastures beside still waters.
“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
-Psalm 23:6
