Obituary

Bob Matthews died unexpectedly on October 10, 2023 at 62 years of age. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death. Bob was born on September 8, 1961 in Norfolk, Virginia. He is survived by his daughter Sarah, his brother Glen, his parents Lee and Alex, and countless friends. He was excited to welcome his first grandbaby into the world this coming January.

Personal note from Sarah

Thank you so much to everyone who was able to come out this weekend to remember and celebrate Bob's life. It was a perfect day, and so nice to have people he cared about all joined together in his memory. We know those of you who couldn't be there but wanted to be were absolutely there in spirit, and your love was felt, even from afar.

Videos and a few photos from the service are in the link below. Due to an unfortunate technical difficulty, the 2nd half of David Seering's speech and his incredible song tribute were sadly not recorded. But I've added what we were able to capture in the link.

A few of us spread his ashes together on the beach in Santa Rosa Beach, FL after the service, close to Stalworth Lake. This was one of his favorite spots to go fishing with friends and made for the perfect final resting place. Here is a pin to the location should you ever want to visit him.

I certainly never expected to have to say goodbye to a parent this early in life and am heartbroken that my dad is gone. Thank you all for loving and supporting him in life; people were his driving force and I have no doubt about the difference each of you made for him. We each continue to carry a little piece of him with us. If you have any stories or photos or anything at all you want to share about him, please reach out anytime. And if any of you ever come through Seattle, our door is open.

We take comfort and find peace in my dad's eternal rest in green pastures with the Lord. Until we meet again. We love you Bob.

Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

With much love,
Sarah & Glen
