Robert's obituary
Robert was born in New Orleans to Luther Jones and Bonnie Thompson on August 23, 1967. He worked as a body man for Ray Brandt Collision Center for 25 years, and earned his ICar certification throughout his time at the company. His meticulous attention to detail, and love for family united when in 1984 he started his career working for his father and uncle at Continental Coach in Natchitoches, LA. He loved his occupation, was a very hardworking man, and in the words of his nephew, Louis Rollins, “When Uncle Rob said he was the best body man in the Southeast, he meant it.”
Robert will best be remembered for his love of family, tough exterior, but very kind and loving heart. He looked forward to spending time with his children and grandchild, Annabeth, and other family members. Robert had several pastimes including playing video games, frequenting new restaurants, cooking, and grilling steaks outdoors. He was especially happy when he was around his loved ones.
Robert is preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Rosie Herrington and Luther E. Jones and maternal grandparents, Walter and Molly Warren.
Robert is survived by his children: Courtney Schmidt, married to Patrick Schmidt, Morgan Sarah, Seth Jones, and Kai Jones; step-daughter: Maghen Sarah; brother and sister: Chris Jones, married to Kellie Jones and Sandy Ray, married to Pratt Ray; parents: Luther Jones, married to Anne Jones and Bonnie Thompson, married to Adrian Thompson, Sr.; Granddaughter: Annabeth Schmidt; former spouse: Angela Thompson Jones; step-brothers and sisters: Lesa Thompson, Adrian Thompson, Jr., Twinkle, Apple, Jay R, Alvin, and Lenz Tan. He also has many cousins, aunts, uncles, other relatives and many friends.
The family of Robert wishes to extend their sincere thanks to St. Tammany Parish Hospital ICU nursing staff, most notably Jenny, Monica, Kate, and Brittany. We would also like to thank Dr. Ricardo Blanco, Dr. David Cressy, and Dr. Chad VanAsselberg at Northlake Pulmonary Associates.
Memorial services will be held at a later time by his children and sister.
