I worked for Bob at GTE in Azusa and Baldwin Park Central Offices. C1968-1972.

I enjoyed working for Bob and had a good working relationship.

I was fortunate enough to talk to Bob in a telephone conversation a few years ago. It was nice to reconnect.

My deepest condolences to Bob’s entire family.

When I was posting a memory o…
When I was posting a memory of Bob along with his humor he was pretty talented at woodworking.  I thought of this today when I was dusting a china cabinet and saw a cookie jar that was my Mom’s.  It had no lid so out in the workshop he went (one of his favorite places to spend time) and in no time at  all he returned with a beautiful little wooden lid.  I’m going to try to post a picture if I can .  Thank you Bob for all the wonderful times and memories, you were a special man and are dearly missed by all that had the privilege to know and love you . 😢
I have such fond memories of the Hobbs family on Oakwood Lane. I was a teenager when my sister and brother-in-law, Terri and Danny, moved to Oakwood Lane in Chino and Pam and Bob were their next-door neighbors. I can remember Bob’s smiling face and he always seemed to have a sparkle in his eyes. He was such a kind man to people of all ages, including me as a 15-year-old teenager at the time. Their home was always warm and inviting and I enjoyed playing Bunko with all of the adults. That says a lot about a family when a teenager enjoys hanging out with adults. This was 50 years ago for me, but thinking of Bob still warms my heart. R.I.P. dear one. You will be greatly missed by those who have known and loved you. Deepest condolences to all the family. ~ Linda (Casas) White

A brown mustang, driving down Parkway Dr in El Monte, CA. The top is down, while exposing the nieces of the driver who squeal in delight each time their Uncle Bob speeds up the car and serpentines, back and forth, and back and forth. This is just one of the many memories of my Uncle Bob. I love you Aunt Ellen 💟

I have so many wonderful memories of my time spent with Bob that it’s hard to share just one but this one always makes me laugh.  I always had ideas for decorating the house and wallpapering the kitchen ceiling was one that I won’t forget.  Bob said he didn’t need my help and after about an hour I heard him yelling, “PAM GET IN HERE,”.  There he was up on the ladder with sticky wallpaper on his head and more on the floor that had fallen off the ceiling.  With a sheepish little smile on his face his next  words were “well maybe I could use a little help”.

Ellen:  I am so sorry to know that Bob has passed from this life.  He put up a valiant fight for as long as he could.  May God bless you and keep you safe through the rest of your life.    Sincerely,  Mary Whitfield

Mary Ellen, Pam,  I’m so sad reading this.  I have so many great memories being young living across the street from each other!  I remember the most the look on your Dad’s face, even though I was about 6, when we put the puppies on a dresser in your garage and only one looked at itself in the mirror instead of playing with the rest.  He came from tragedy for your family but that dog was amazing and brought my Mom, sister and I through our toughest time.  Your father was so stoic and yet so gentle and loving through it all.

❤️ Hugs.

For almost fifteen years, I was Bob and Ellen's neighbor in Shelter Bay. To be sure I was blessed with the best of neighbors during that time. While we spent time in each other's lives, we weren't "on each other's doorstep," but always, Bob and Ellen were "there" for me a single person.  Bob, even into dealing with Parkinsons, would help me bring in my garbage cans, always with a smile.  I know he adored Ellen ... and is dogs. Early in my residency there, I saw a "committee" staring at the road at the bottom of our steep hill.  I asked them what they were doing ... They were Shelter Bay Board members, measuring the incline to assure that fire engine and ambulances could make it down our hill.  I say that, because both Ellen and Bob regularly walked up and down that hill with whichever dog[s] needed walking.  Toward the end of my stay there, I have an image of Bob and Ellen, arm in arm, assisting each other with the dog on a leash walking up the hill. Huge metaphor of love, tenacity and endurance of both Bob and Ellen.

One day I was sitting with Bob while Ellen went to an appointment -He got tired of watching the news so we had Alexa play music for us! Bob loved the music and named off quite a few songs and sang along with them!  My favorite was the “Beep Beep song”. Bob sang every single word and if you know the song it goes slow and gets faster each chorus! We laughed and laughed.  Bob never missed a word of that song.  I loved and miss my dear friend Bob. Rest easy and have fun singing with the angels!
