Robert's obituary
Robert William Hood, 63, of Marionville, MO passed away on February 16, 2021.
Robert was born August 27, 1957 at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska. He was the fourth and last child of Theodore C. and Sarah E. Hood. After graduating from Catholic High School, Little Rock Arkansas in 1975, he began working for Nabholz Construction Corporation in Conway, Arkansas. While there he learned that his talent and passion was to create with structure, form, and flow, to build and problem solve. He quickly learned the skills needed to manage job operations and sites, which led to his assignments as a project manager. The results of his work can be found from Arkansas to Oklahoma to Virginia to Missouri. It was in Missouri, while managing the construction of Missouri State’s Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts that a beautiful and charismatic firecracker named Rita Stumph caught his eye. Soon, she became the love of his life, they married on June 3, 1995, and they have walked the hills and valleys of marriage for the past 25 years.
In 2001 Robert chose to expand his entrepreneurial talents and founded his own company, Professional Project Management, LLC in Springfield, Missouri. Through this endeavor he was able to focus on what he loved best, which was working closely as a client advocate for architectural firms and in new construction projects for area school systems. He told his oldest daughter that in a secret place on the skeleton of every building he signs his name. He also shared that it gave him such gratification to drive past his completed projects knowing they would be there long past his time on Earth.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents Theodore C. Hood and Sarah E. Hood (née Osborn), both of Little Rock, Arkansas. He is survived by his wife Rita Hood of Marionville Missouri; brother-in-law Thad Stumph (Dawn Stumph) of Boonville, Missouri; sister Gerry Ganong of Little Rock Arkansas; brothers Ted Hood Jr. (Dee Yancey) of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas; and John Hood (Joyce Hood) of Bryant, Arkansas; as well as many nieces and nephews.
From the time he was born, he and his sister shared a deep connection across many chapters and adventures together. He was fun-loving and loved to learn, and he was dedicated to teaching and mentoring about his craft. His brother Ted remembers him as a hard worker both in his work and in his responsibilities to his family. His brother John recalls Robert’s fascination as a boy with crawling creatures – always bringing home lizards, frogs, and Texas horny toads in his pockets, driving their mother crazy.
Robert’s legacy continues on through the lives of his daughters Jennifer Blaylock of Greenbrier, Arkansas; Megan Sierk of Republic, Missouri; and Valarie Hood of Conway, Arkansas; his son-in-law Justin Sierk; and his grandchildren Zachary Blaylock, Dawn Rae Blaylock, Evan Blaylock, Landon Sierk, Zoë Kong, and Kora Sierk.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, Springfield, Missouri.
