Bob's obituary
We mournfully announce the passing of Robert "Bob" Glendon, 88, of Ocoee, FL. Bob passed away on August 06, 2022, after a long and hard fought battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Bob, was born to Robert and Lucille Glendon (Webber) on September 07, 1933 in Bridgeton, New Jersey. He was very active in music during his high school years in Bridgeton laying the groundwork for a long and successful career.
In the 1950s he began a four year stint in the US Navy where he continued his musical education while playing in the US Naval band. After leaving the Navy, Bob went on to attend Stetson University in Deland Florida, where he earned a Master’s degree in music. It was during this time Bob met his first wife Constance Chieppa. The couple married in 1960 in Montreal, Canada. During the 1960s, Bob began a teaching career. He taught music at several central Florida high schools after which he was offered a position at Saint Leo University, near Tampa, Florida.
In October, 1971 Bob left academia and began a long and successful career in the entertainment industry when he joined Walt Disney World. For over twenty years he was a constant fixture at Disney and enjoyed working in The Pearly Band, the Diamond Horseshoe Revue, The Grand Floridian and the Contemporary Hotel.
His passion as a pianist, musical arranger and conductor allowed him to travel the world perfecting his craft. Locales such as Europe, Asia, Hawaii and Alaska to mention only a few. His devotion to music also allowed him to work with such artists as Tony Bennett , Sammy Davis Jr. and Milton Berle. It wasn’t the big names, however, that fueled his love for the music game-it was all of the cool folks that he played with, side by side over his long career. And to all of you, God Bless and thank you for calling Bob your friend.
Bob is survived by his son and daughter in law Charlie and Lori Glendon, his granddaughter Lindsey Glendon, his sister Elaine, his friend Vera, stepson Eric, cousins, nieces and nephews and countless friends. Bob is predeceased by his second wife, Phyllis.
