Robert E. Gernhard 1942 - 2018 Moosup - Robert E. Gernhard 76, of Moosup died Thursday morning at his home with his family by his side. He was born in Norwich on January 26, 1942 the son of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Kendall) Gernhard. Richard was employed most of his life as an electrician supervisor at General Dynamics retiring in 1997. He continued working after retirement for the Norwich Bulletin and Canterbury Schools. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved gardening and wood working, as well as working on motor vehicles. He is survived by daughter Angelina Corrigan and her husband Mike Corrigan of Moosup, son Bobby Joe Gernhard of Norwich, daughter Cheryl Gernhard of Norwich and son David Gernhard and his wife Erin (Donley) Gernhard of Lisbon. Granddaughters Anna-Marie Donovan, Suesanna Corrigan and Nicole Gernhard. Grandson Nigel Gernhard and Joseph Gernhard and Great-grandson Mark Heath III. Five brothers, William Gernhard of Pittsfield, N.H., Henry Gernhardt of Fl.; Frederick Gernhard of Lyme, N. H., and Daniel Gernhard of Old Saybrook. Two sisters, Evelyn Grenier of Cheshire and Patricia Coutu of Canterbury and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers Joseph, James and Richard Gernhard and one sister Susan Nunly. A celebration of life will be held with family and friends at a later date.
