Whitey's obituary
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert "Whitey" Atton, who left us on July 22, 2024. Born on March 14, 1952, Whitey will be fondly remembered as a man whose personality sparkled with humor, warmth, and an endearing audacity.
Whitey was a beloved father to his daughter, Freya Johnson, with whom he shared an extraordinary bond. He also leaves behind his cherished son-in-law, Philip Johnson, and his precious grandchildren, Karisma Hattemer, Elijzah Johnson, and TJ Hattemer. Whitey's love and influence will continue to live within them. His sister, Barb Biglin, also survives him.
Whitey was predeceased by his loving parents, Betty and Charles Atton. He carried their love and lessons throughout his life, passing them onto the generations that followed.
Whitey's life was characterized by his strong beliefs and an outgoing personality that made him the life of any gathering. He loved making people laugh, and his unique wisdom often came with a side of humor. As he often said, 'Shoot first, ask questions later. Better to be a smartass than a dumbass.'
One of his proudest accomplishments was serving our country and traveling the world. However, he often shared that his greatest joy was his family. He grew up surrounded by love, a tradition he carried forward as he built his own family. The highlight of his life was walking his beloved daughter down the aisle.
Whitey leaves behind a rich legacy in the form of his beautiful granddaughter and two wonderful grandsons. Through them, we will continue to see glimpses of Whitey's spirit.
In lieu of flowers, a fund has been set up to help fulfill Whitey's last wishes. You can donate at https://everloved.com/life-of….
