Richard's obituary
In Loving Memory of Richard Peebles Madigan
1976- 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Richard, who left this world at the age of 48. He was a man whose laughter could light up a room, whose hugs made the world feel safe, and whose heart was as generous as it was joyful.
Born in Woodhaven, New York, Richard was a true original—funny, big-hearted, and universally loved. He had a rare gift for making people feel at home, whether through a perfectly timed joke, a warm embrace, or a plate of his legendary cooking. His kitchen was his stage, and every meal he prepared was an act of love. He was happiest when surrounded by friends and family, hosting unforgettable gatherings filled with laughter, music, and the kind of food that made you feel cared for.
His ability to connect with people was extraordinary. Strangers became friends, and friends became family. His presence was a comfort, his spirit a light, and his love a constant.
He is survived by his wife, Alison, his brother Michael, his sisters Maria, Rose Ann, and Regina, his nephew Emmanuel, and his niece Glory who will carry forward his memory with love and gratitude. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that his legacy lives on in every shared meal, every heartfelt laugh, and every hug that reminds us of his warmth.
A celebration of Richard's life will be held on Saturday November 1 at the Anhinga Trail in Everglades National Park. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the charity of your choice, in honor of his generous heart and love for bringing people together.
