Background
Richard loved the Everglades, spending much of his scouting youth near its waters. The Everglades, also known as the "River of Grass" is one of the wonders of the world. It is a vast subtropical wilderness that has been declared a World Heritage Site, International Biosphere Reserve, and Wetland of International Importance.
Rich first got involved with the National Alliance on Mental Illness upon moving to Virginia. Rich participated in NAMI as a recipient, volunteer, advocate, and donor. He was very open about removing the stigma around mental illness and the need to increase public access to quality mental health services.
Donating to either of these agencies would be a beautiful way to honor Richard's memory. Contribute to The Everglades Foundation
