Randy's obituary
Randy Hargett 71, of Detroit, MI passed away March 16, 2023, after an eighteen yearlong battle between him and cancer with his wife Natalie by his side.
Randy Augustus Hargett was born May 8, 1951, to Halice Hargett in New Bern, North Carolina. Randy lived in North Carolina with his grandmother until he moved to Detroit, MI in 1963 where he was enrolled in the Detroit Public School system and graduated from Chadsey High School in 1969 specializing in Culinary Arts. Randy was called to serve in the United States Air Force in 1971 after his completion with military service Randy attended Wayne State University in 1975. Randy was a hardworking man who was determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved working consistently until he retired from Kalamazoo Psychiatric Hospital in 2005. Randy’s retirement was prompted by his medical condition and the start of his ongoing battle with cancer.
Randy was a devoted and loving father to his children and husband to his wife Natalie who he met forty three years ago, this May they would have celebrated forty years of marriage. Natalie has been a devoted wife, best friend and care giver to the love of her life. Randy only wanted his wife to care for him and would often prefer her to take care of him rather than the assistance of the nurses at the hospitals. Randy and Natalie were inseparable throughout their union.
When Randy departed this life on March 16, he was predeceased by his mother Halice Simmons, he left to cherish his memory three daughters Shivon M. McDaniel, Natia Cameron (David), Randi Anitra Louie and son Nathaniel “Toney” Hargett. Granddaughters Briana Dawson, Airiana Louie-Cameron, Meadow Cameron, Serenity Lowery and Tae’-Mar Mc Caskill. Two younger siblings brother Steven Copeland and his sister Shirlene Ayers.
Mother–in-law Annie Ruth Louie and Natalie’s siblings Eva Rozier, Carolyn Louie- Jones (Robert), Camelia Louie, Norris Louie (Ilisha), and Demetra Roberson (Stanley) and a host of beloved family and friends.
Randy's Wishes
Randy requested to be cremated and to be taken to Detroit’s Belle Isle and his ashes to go along the sand and washed out into the Detroit River. A celebration of Life will be held later at Belle Isle where Randy spent a lot of fun times with his family and friends.
