On this day I'm reflecting on what Father's Day has meant to me. I am so thankful that my family was able to celebrate this holiday because we had a great man to celebrate and appreciate every year. I appreciate my dad getting out in the backyard to play me in basketball risking injury and often a loss to make me happy. I appreciate my dad going to empty parking lots to teach me to drive, and going right home to have a drink (like I did something wrong). Most of all I appreciate my dad for stepping in and helping raise me, loving me from the day he got to meet me and being there for me every step and stumbled over the years.

For Father's Day this year I reflect and smile on the many gifts my dad gave to me.  I have my memories of the past to give me strength to handle this day and not having to struggle to figure out what to get a man who would always go out and buy what he wanted a gift.  For Father's Day this year I am missing my dad but I am so thankful I had him to celebrate and appreciate for so many years.
