Randell's obituary

Randell (Randy) Lynn Erwin, 69, passed away on October 23, 2025, in Helena, AL. Born on February 4, 1956, Randy was known for his vibrant personality, embodying the life of the party and a friendly demeanor that made him a stranger to none.

Randy dedicated many years to working as a coal miner and was an active officer in the United Mine Workers of America (UMWA) local union, where he passionately advocated for the rights and well-being of his fellow workers. His commitment to his colleagues and the community was deeply respected and appreciated.

Outside of his professional life, Randell was a devoted family man. He leaves behind his loving wife, Sharon; daughter, Brandi Franklin (Josh); son, Jake Erwin; grandchildren, Bella Holliday, Addison Franklin and Farren Holliday, brother, Danny Erwin (Linda). He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Jean Erwin.

An enthusiast of life's simpler joys, Randell cherished the moments spent watching his grandchildren play sports. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends and had a keen interest in collecting knives and guns, each item holding a special place in his collection.

A celebration of Randy life will be held from 2-4 pm on November 9, 2025, at the Barimore Clubhouse, 101 Barimore Blvd., Helena, AL 35080, where friends and family are invited to share memories and honor his legacy.

Randy’s life was marked by his warmth, generosity, and the strong connections he fostered throughout his life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
