Every year I come back here to say hello.  We miss you and are thinking about you.  Very grateful you aren’t alive to see the tragedies of Israel and Palestine. You’d be heart broken. Today I am grateful for that.
Eu estou aprendendo Português.  E hoje eu falei sobre você, especificamente sobre você era uma escrita.  Eu sento falta de você!
Happy birthday to my Grammy.  I think about you often and Phil and I regularly tell stories about you to our babies. Much love, Melissa

I can't really say more than I said two years ago.  I enjoyed knowing my cousin Rachel and wish that she had lived longer in better health.  I'm happy that she left good feelings and memories in a lot of people.

February 6th, Rachel and I presented together at the Jewish Family Service staff meeting. We shared about our wonderful experience in the Friendly Visitor program. I had been visiting with Rachel since November, and we enjoyed many outings together. My favorite memory was seeing the Monet exhibit with her. I loved hearing her stories of traveling to Giverny, and all over the world. She inspired me to book a trip to Europe myself. In the short time we had together, she made a profound impact on me. I loved her personality and sense of humor. I will miss her dearly. Sending my condolences.
I'm glad you posted these pictures, Jeff. Your mom, my cousin Rachel, really was beautiful and sparkly for most of her life. That's how I remember her. And there she is with the people she loved most.

Mom,
You are in a peaceful place now and not suffering anymore. We miss you very much and know we were a challenging bunch to raise but you did a wonderful job and we all turned out to be exceptional in our own unique ways. This is a reflection of your guidance during our years both young and old. This is in our hearts from the three of us.

We love you and miss you. Forever in our memories.

Jeff, Mike and Keith
I'm sorry, but we will not be able to attend Rachel's funeral. Please know that we loved her and that she was very much a significant person in our lives. She was wonderful to us and to our two children for 26 years. She will be missed. Life will not be the same without her at our Seders and Friday night dinners.

Remembering my cousin Rachel Pollack

I first met my cousin Rachel at my three year old birthday party. We saw a little of each other as kids, but In our early adult years, she married and soon moved to Portland, OR; and I went to college, came back to New York and then married and moved to California. Most of our relationship from then on was by phone or letter. Some time after she moved to Denver, I visited her there. I remember she talked about taking the boys up to the mountains for ski or snow play days.

I saw Rachel in New York when her father, my Uncle Max, died—I stayed with them while they sat shiva. I next saw Rachel when we were in our 40s or early 50s, staying in her apartment in Manhattan. She had some magazine work she was excited about at the time, a social life, and life seemed pretty good.

She came to visit us in San Francisco at least twice. I saw her on one trip in which she and her friend Renae were having fun staying, as Grannies, in youth hostels.

Rachel and I talked a few times a year as Rachel did not use email. I knew she had a close group of women friends who called themselves “Old Broads.” She talked about her grandchildren, whom she felt close to. There was a period where she had Friday night Shabbat dinners with them which she really enjoyed. Eventually, for financial reasons, she had to move to a smaller apartment and finally to one away from the neighborhood she liked. During this same period she was getting sicker, which was sad and scary. Our last conversation was in October 2019—I had just been diagnosed with cancer and was preoccupied with my own health, but didn’t tell her. I meant to call after I finished treatment, but learned instead from Eric that Rachel was in hospice.

Although we didn’t see much of each other, my relationship with Rachel was meaningful. I enjoyed hearing about her friends, family and grandchildren, who meant a lot to her, and wish I could have met you all. Rachel didn’t have everything in life she wanted, but she had a lot to enjoy, was adventurous in her own way and a good writer. I feel sad and will miss her.

Rachel was always one of my favorite people to talk to while working at the Ross Cherry Creek Library, she will be missed!
