As a mother of two Bosco graduates, I had a lot of contact with Rick and our friendship continued throughout the years.  He was a kind and very funny man and devoted to his students.  He will be sorely missed by those who loved him but welcomed in heaven by all the unborn babies he defended in life.

So very sad to hear of Mr. D's passing.  Many fond memories of him at Bosco.  The one that always comes to mind is him staring at me or one of my classmates and simply stating "Vinegar and Water" with a look of mild disapproval in his face.  IYKYK

44 yrs later still laugh when I think about it.

He will be missed.

Fr. Louis Molinelli, SDB
1976, Don Bosco Preparatory High School, North Franklin Turnpike, Ramsey, NJ, USA

I first met Rick in 1976 when I was a sophomore at Don Bosco Prep.  He was a brand new teacher and I was in his Algebra II class.  He was always kind and went out of his way to make me feel comfortable in a class that was filled with students who played football (and I was not one of them!).  Years later, after becoming a Salesian priest, I returned to DBP to be Coordinator of Youth Ministry (1995-1998), and Director/President (2004-2010).  What a great man to work with!  I will always remember his generosity, his love for the young, and his commitment to the ideals of St.  John Bosco.  May God grant him eternal rest, and may we all remember his great legacy.

My condolences to Rick’s friends and the Bosco family/alumni. I first met Rick when I had him for math. I doubted I could do well and he was the first teacher to ever tell me “stop doubting how smart you are and excel”. We connected again many years after graduation and became good friends. We would see each other often at Starbucks and the Bosco football games. He was always a class act. You will be truly miss Mr. D. 🙏

I met Mr. D as my daughters cheer coach at DBP….we stayed in touch via Facebook and became friends. Always the first to respond to a “story “ with a kind word or a  compliment ….I will miss our chats Rick! I know you are reunited with your beloved mother in Heaven. RIP Mr. D

xoxo

Really saddened to hear about the passing of Mr. DeLillo. He was my math teacher from 2000 to 2004. Not only was he a phenomenal classroom leader, he was one of the few people who could create deep bonds with his students. His classes were genuinely fun and you knew he cared.  He was a phenomenal person. Rest in peace, buddy.

National championship coach, amazing teacher and an even better person.  Thank you for adding to my Bosco experience.   We’ll all miss you.
My condolence's and prayers to the family. Mr. D was an excellent teacher who cared for his students achievements both in and out of the classroom. Even years after I graduated he would comment and send me the most sincere positive messages. He will be missed.
With each passing day, I find your one liners popping in my head, and how I wish I could call you one last time. Thank you for the memories and laughs…”SMMILLLEEEEE DAMMIT!”
Sad news about a great teacher and a fun person who made many people smile.  RIP Mr. D
