I learned critical thinking from him about the world around me. That doesn't mean he was critical; it means he taught me and his family to study and learn. To ponder and weigh things without taking everything as truth just because it may be repeated often. He taught his family to think, to care about freedom and liberty and about our great country of America. He taught us to study about the founding Fathers of this nation . He believed the government with the constitution was inspired by God and thus making us the most blessed of Gods children! He loved his country, he loved his family, and he loved God and his son Jesus Christ with all his heart and soul! He was totally trustworthy and had a lot of integrity. I always trusted him and respected his knowledge, sober thinking and his deep reverence for sacred things. He wasn't a chit chatter. He liked to think seriously and discuss important subjects. Nevertheless, he had a very dry and unusual sense of humor. He would come up with funny one liner when you least expected it. I loved his witty ways and unsmiling way of delivering a joke. It took me awhile to know when he was joking. He was sick for the last twenty years of his life, but he rarely complained even when he was miserable. He was a really thoughtful and helpful husband. He always helped me out by vacuuming the house each week and doing lots of dishes by hand, even with his itchy burning skin on his hands. He always fixed and built anything I wanted and was a very supportive mate in all my creative endeavors. He was a good researcher and made lots of videos concerning important issues of health, government, politics, current events and spiritual concerns. He will be missed terribly!
When we would meet in a store, post office or on the street, Alan would always say "Howdy Neighbor" because our property east of town was in the vicinity of his property. So sorry he's been suffering for so long so all that is now in the past.  My condolences to the family.
