We were so surprised & sad to here that Rotimi has passed away. We are happy to know that he is safely with Jesus and will avoid the influence & war with Satan.
On behalf of my family, I write this tribute to a very dear family friend, Dr. Peter Mebude. We received the news of his unimaginable demise with great sadness. We came to know Peter more closely, through the friendship of my dear wife Ann and Tinu Mebude, the relationship permeated both families. Peter was the quintessential gentleman - a very good family man, quiet, passionate, spiritual, brilliant, and erudite. Each time we met, even during his struggle with his health, discussions always revolved around three key topics – spirituality, academics, and our dear country Nigeria. Every visit was memorable, we will miss him! May his soul rest in peace.

He fought a brave, strong, and long battle to stay alive. As he has now answered the ultimate call, we will take solace in the words of Romans 8:28 “And we know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose”. Our prayers remain with Tinu and the family he left behind; may the Lord continue to comfort and strengthen them.
Sir Victor & Lady Ann Okoronkwo
I write this tribute with a heavy heart. Uncle rotimi was different from most men. He was a loving husband to my sister, a great father to my niece and nephews, a good father in law, and great grandfather. He always wanted the best for everyone around him. He had a strong appreciation for knowledge and tried to learn a lot about different things. I could remember when he gave his life to christ in the 1980s how he spent hours studying the bible, in order to know the mind of God. He was both a great son to my mother and a good brother to me. We rejoice knowing that your life fulfilled God’s purpose on earth and take consolation that your seated with God in heaven. May his soul rest in peace

ROTIMI MEBUDE, a k a KUNTA!
We were together in JOGS , in the same same class and same house. Throughout his secondary school life, he was an easy going guy and loved. He was full of cerebral knowledge, he played football very well. We are good friends and encouraged me a lot.
Rotimi was very disciplined and very focused.
My joy was his love, passion and commitment to his faith in God Almighty. Rotimi love Jesus Christ and loved hymns and deep spiritual songs.
Though he was small statured, but a 'GIANT'.
ROTIMI, was indeed a real and genuine born again Christian.
I have no doubt that, he is sleeping in the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.
Rotimi, adieu adieu adieu 😭😭😭😭

Dr. Peter Mebude, a new chapter for our family began when Emmanuel met you in Fort McMurray in 2002. He returned to Botswana and told us about you and your family which boosted our excitement to relocate to Canada, specifically, Fort McMurray, Alberta. When we moved to Canada in 2004, yours was the first Nigerian family we met and since then we’ve enjoyed deep love and fellowship with one another. You became a real brother to Emmanuel while sister Tinuade Oyebola became a sister I never had. Our children regarded you as their second Dad while your wife, ‘Bola, became their second Mom. Over time, we’ve gone on vacations, celebrated birthdays, laughed, and cried together.
Your early exit has left a deep vacuum in our lives.
You have fought and won. You never gave up your faith in and love for God and humanity. You were truly a Child of God (COG).

Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your sting? O grave, where is your victory?

Our dear Brother and Uncle, sleep on in the bosom of our Lord Jesus till we meet and part no more.
Good night. O d’aaro o!!!

From 1973 through 1978 we were classmates. We competed against each other in Physics, Chemistry Add Maths, and James Hardley Chase. Your rapport and intellect always challenged me in those days in classes 4K and 5K. I disappeared for a while until you found me on LinkedIn. We connected back again and you reintroduced me back to our other classmates. When I visited Calgary, you encouraged me to cancel my reservations so I could stay with you and your family – you provided room, board, and transportation. Your voice is being echoed in my mind and I can never forget the loving nickname you gave me. I will forever cherish our memories together. In pain and illness, you would call to check on me and my family. What a LOVING and CARING FRIEND you were. It is so painful to accept the fact that your voice will not be heard at will anymore. I do not doubt in my mind that we will meet again at the Feet of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Until then my dear friend continue to rest in The Lord. May the Peace of The Living God bring comfort to Tinuade, Tobi, Tosin, Debra, the grandchildren, and all of us, IJMN, Amen.
What shall we render unto the Lord? thanks & praises!
We thank God you are resting in the Bossom of the Lord. Yes, we lost our dearest child of God & young man par excellence. Painful BUT we thank GOD for your short and fruitful life, we love you but God loves you better.
While here, you were affable, easy-going and ALWAYS good for a spirited analysis & discussion of any topic, we MISS YOU, we are missing you & we will continue to miss you!! Our prayer is for a peaceful repose of your humble soul, rest on in the Lord, our young man, Ile aiye, ajo ni, b'ope b'oya, gbogbo wa ni a o rele, rest on COG Mebude.
It is with deepest sorrow and sadness that I write this tribute for you, Dr. Peter Rotimi Mebude. God saw that you were getting tired, so He put His arms around you and whispered, “Come with Me.”

With tearful eyes, we watched you suffer, and saw you fade away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating. Hard working hands to rest. Words cannot describe this difficult moment, but if this is the last time I get to say goodbye then I know I will do so with the knowledge that I consider myself blessed to have lived this life knowing you. I have never met anyone who could surpass you in the act of showing respect. You were so special, you  touched so many lives by your selflessness and countless acts of kindness, I remember the several times you visited us here in Barrie, your smiles lit up the room, you were so fun to be with. I also remember when I visited you in Calgary with my family, you welcomed us with open arms, but little did I know that would be the last time I would see those smiles. You were such a wonderful brother-in-law to me, you possessed great listening ears, very supportive, always giving and never expecting any favours in return. You were a great father, a good husband, and a very family oriented person. Your dedication to a cause was what set you apart. You were and will always be an inspiration to myself, the entire family and anyone who was opportuned to know you. You have left a void in the family and among friends that will never be filled.

While we mourn today, we also take comfort in the fact that your mission on earth has been fulfilled. We thank the Lord for your life and bid you farewell until we meet again.  Our only consolation is that we know you are seated with God in heaven. The whole extended family is mourning for your loss, and each word that I write for you brings tears to my eyes. We love you but God loves you more and I know that he has you resting comfortably in his everlasting arms. Rest in Peace "Egbon Rote", our dear Dr. Peter Rotimi Mebude.
Baba Rote,
What a blessing you were to us, your classmates at Ijebu Ode Grammar School. You led the way for others like me to follow with your brilliant academic mind at that young age. I will always remember how you used to call me ‘Baba Nepo’
I have numerous memories of you from 1973 - 2019 and I thank God for the legacy you left behind.
I pray that God will comfort your wife, children, grandchildren and other members of your family (Amen).
Rote, May your soul rest in perfect peace (Amen).
Bro Rotimi, we met you 16 years ago and you have remained a wonderful, amazing and very loving brother. Your advise and support helped us in getting settled in this country. You have fought the good fight, you have kept the faith. We feel the pain today but we know you have won the war. We are comforted to know you are in the bosom of the Lord where there is no more pain. We will miss you dearly. You will always be in our hearts.
God’s comfort be with the family.

Dear Bro Rotimi, Last time we visited with you in late 2019, you mentioned to us point blank that you were not afraid of death. We noticed then your resolve to totally trust the Lord regardless of what you were going through at the time. You finished your race strong and you are resting in him.
The Lord took you home to rest in his bosom, albeit we would have loved to have you on this side eternity much longer.
We will miss you and will always cherish memories of our fellowship together and many great discourse about life, politics and chess.
We pray that the Lord will comfort Sister Bola and the family you left behind. May his presence always guide your children. In Jesus name. Amen.

Rest In Peace in the Lord,
Ken & Disemi Atere & Family
Baba Rote!
My dear brother, what a brilliant mind, a loving husband to your soul mate Tinuade , a dutiful father to Tobi,Tosin and Deborah, unapologetic brother to me and my wife, a caring uncle to my children, a loyal friend to countless of people that you crossed path with and a resource to your community.
I thank God for your short but impactful life and take comfort that you finished your race strong in faith and I’m sure that you are now “comfortable baje” with your maker.
Many times you and I discussed the importance of legacy of a good name for “What good is it,my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds?” today I thank God that you my brother you made it, for you have left a good legacy !
Sleep well my dear brother.

Soji & Lanre Mebude and the children
Surely Bro. Mebude will be greatly missed.
He was a brilliant, peaceful, and resourceful believer.
Erudite scholar on diverse topics.
He was a lovely person to be around...with unusual insight to issues at our then Excellent Men Fellowship.
I cherished your encouragement anytime he visited our church.
Sleep on brother until we meet where we part no more! RIP

May your soul rest in peace. You have gone to rest
EPITAPH IN MEMORY OF ROTIMI MEBUDE, PhD.
Rotimi joined us at Ijebu-Ode Grammar School (JOGS) in September 1973 and settled in Kuti House. Somehow, I had some intimacy with him as he came across not only as a prodigy but equally witty. His perspicacity shone throughout his undergraduate studies at Unilag School of Engineering and later, he added a PhD in Structural Engineering to his epaulet. He was an avid and eclectic reader and would discuss any subject matter with erudition and clarity.
When I saw him in May, 2013 in Las Vegas, USA, he had just gone through a medical procedure and was obviously weak. The ebullience attenuating but he was still part of the fun. The memories of that summer remain indelible with me as Vegas now stands as our parting point. He passionately loved JOGS and had good reminiscences of his stay there. The only thing we own in this world are the moments we share together.
May his amiable consort, Princess Tinuade and indeed the Mebude Family find deep divine solace and comforting embrace from the presence of our Lord.
Sleep on Rotimi until we meet at feet of Christ, to part no more.
