IN LOVING MEMORY OF MY SISTER PAULINA TEIXEIRA RAMOS - NEVER TO BE FORGOTTEN.
Paulina was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, godmother, aunt, sister, cousin and friend. She left this world on August 5, 2023. Paulina was a woman of many talents who was skilled in a variety of areas.
Paulina loved spending time in the kitchen cooking and we have enjoyed her delicious Cape Verdean (Criolo) and American cuisine. She especially loved baking bread, cakes, specialty pastries/pies and treats that she would share with her family and others. Especially her Peach Apricot Meringue Pie. She was thoughtful and very generous . She gladly let her home become an open avenue for the Livramento family to celebrate the holidays and vacation and other days with her for many years.
Her home has always been a place where she constantly extended her love and warmth with family, childhood friends and acquaintances. Best childhood friends' gathering was always carefully planned at least quarterly where we would "Go Down Memory Lane" and recalling our personal funny and memorable Cape Verdean Cultural Experiences and Traditions having lived in a Cape Verdean Community in South Central section of New Bedford, MA.
She was a skilled dressmaker who would "whip up" an outfit on her Singer Sewing machine for a particular occasion or purpose in a minute. Paulina was gifted in delicate embroidery. She once told me she loved doing alterations and resizing big clothes to her size. I benefitted from this skill by asking her to replace a lightweight lining to a 100%winter wool lining for a new coat I had purchased. I wore that coat for so many years..
Paulina was a lover of dance and music and filled her home with upbeat Cabo Verde coladeiras, mornas and loved Cesária Évora, one of the country’s cultural ambassadors. Other singers like Bana, Tito Paris, Mirro Lobo, Cabo Verde Show, Os Tubarõe In her younger years she also loved Classical, Boston Pop, Symphony Orchestra and classical pop. She would spend her extra money on buying vinyl records at the Melody Tent on Union Street every Friday in New Bedford ,Ma. . She learned all kind of dancing especially "line dancing"
Paulina was versatile and adaptable, able to take on new challenges and learn new skills with ease. She was confident in her abilities and was not afraid to take risks and try new things. For instance Rollerblading at an older age which I refused to accept her invitation to join her. To my surprise Paulina participated in several Fashion Shows and was able to showcase her talent and creativity in a diverse audience. I would not dare participate in any fashion show, it was too daunting for me but she was a natural. She was very stylish and dressed to the nines. She attended Swain School of Design and Hairdressing School. I trusted to cut my hair in the length I desired. She never went beyond my request like others
Paulina was a dedicated faithful member of the Cape Verdean Women's Social Club in New Bedford, MA and a member of The Founders Guild of the Cape Verdean Progressive Center in East Providence RI. This was a Women's Club.
Paulina for years participated in the annual Cape Verdean Recognition Day Parade and the Annual OLOA Memorial Day Parade to St John's Cemetery in New Bedford. She designed and made her own CV folk costume.
She was honored as the Volunteer of the year for the Save the Bay organization in RI. Paulina always made herself available to volunteer her gift of service to other organizations when asked.
My sister , Paulina Teixeira Ramos had a handle on what it meant to demonstrate God's love through hospitality and giving. The Livramento Family, (my deceased husband Joe and my daughter, Judee and my Granddaughters Ariel and Ciarra have been recipients of her thoughtfulness and generosity beyond measure.
The "Good" Seeds of' MORABEZA' loving kindness, unselfish generosity and thoughtfulness that Paulina has sown is constantly being reproduced and perpetuated in her children, Delma, Lenore, Valdemar and hopefully in her Grandson, Jordan.
The good we do is never lost, Each kindly act takes root, and every bit of love we sow, in time will bear it's fruit.
Paulina has earned the love, respect and admiration of all those whose life she touched and will be greatly missed.
I thank God for Paulina's life, for every memory of love and joy, for every good deed and every sorrow shared with us. I thank God for her rest in Christ. I thank God for giving Paulina to us for a time, and we praise God for the glory we shall share together for eternity. Descanse en Paz. (Rest in Peace) She will always be remembered in my heart. NEVER FORGOTTEN.
