Patrick Yaqing Zhu Memorial Scholarship Fund
In memory of Patrick Yaqing Zhu, our family is establishing a memorial scholarship fund to support college students pursuing careers in medicine or health sciences.
During Patrick’s nearly two-year battle with pancreatic cancer, our family experienced firsthand how difficult and complex serious illness can be. Despite advances in medicine, effective treatments for pancreatic cancer remain limited, and the journey placed tremendous emotional and practical challenges on our family.
Throughout this time, Patrick’s children, Richard and Michelle, were both pursuing their medical education. They spent countless hours caring for their father while continuing their studies under extraordinary pressure. Patrick often spoke about how proud he was of their dedication and compassion, and how grateful he felt for the colleges and educators who helped guide them on their path toward becoming physicians.
Inspired by Patrick’s values and his deep appreciation for education, we hope to establish the Patrick Yaqing Zhu Memorial Scholarship Fund to support college pre-medical students who are pursuing careers in medicine or health sciences while facing family hardships, such as illness.
This scholarship is intended to help students who demonstrate compassion, perseverance, and a commitment to caring for others — qualities that Patrick admired deeply.
Our hope is that this fund will help future healthcare professionals continue their education during difficult times, just as Patrick’s children were able to do with the support of their schools and mentors.
In lieu of flowers, we kindly invite those who wish to honor Patrick’s memory to contribute to this memorial scholarship fund. Your support will help encourage and assist future students who aspire to serve others through medicine.
Through this fund, Patrick’s legacy of strength, compassion, and devotion to family will continue to inspire and support future generations.
为纪念亚青，我们家人希望设立一项纪念奖学金基金，用于支持在大学阶段攻读医学或健康科学相关专业的学生。
在与疾病抗争的近两年时间里，我们全家亲身经历了重大疾病所带来的艰难与复杂。尽管医学不断进步，但有效治疗手段仍然十分有限，这段旅程给我们的家庭带来了巨大的情感与现实压力。我们的孩子都在攻读医学相关的学业。他们在承受巨大压力的同时，仍然投入了无数时间陪伴和照顾父亲。亚青常常谈起他对孩子们的付出与善良深感骄傲，也对曾经培养和支持他们走上医学道路的大学和老师充满感激。
所以我们希望设立 “朱亚青纪念奖学金基金”，用于帮助那些立志从事医学或健康科学事业、同时正面临家庭困难（如家人患病）的大学预科医学生。
