Patrick's obituary

Patrick Carl Beckley, 79, passed away at Cherry Hill Haven, Traverse City, MI, with his family by his side and under the care of Munson Healthcare Hospice. A special thank you to the Munson Healthcare Hospice team and Cherry Hill Haven for their care of Patrick in his last days.

Patrick was born in Detroit on March 17, 1944, to Carl and Stella Beckley. He graduated from Notre Dame High School. He had a career as an insurance sales agent which afforded him the opportunity to meet and talk to lots of people, which people close to him know that he had a gift to gab. He had a love for baseball, having been a lifelong Detroit Tigers fan. He was also in numerous softball leagues well up until his late 50’s. Besides his career as a sales agent, he always found time to volunteer. He was an integral part of the Southfield Arts Council and Livonia Symphony Orchestra to name a few. He was always the entertainer hosting parties and gatherings for family and friends throughout the year. He was very generous with his time and loved helping his neighbors whenever a need arose and always had candy or treats for the neighborhood kids and pets.

Patrick loved and cherished being a grandfather. Whenever Matthew and Chloe would come for a visit, he loved sharing adventures with them by taking them to The Detroit Zoo, the Detroit Thanksgiving Day Parade and Henry Ford Museum to name a few. He relished seeing his grandchildren transition into young adulthood and took pride in all of their accomplishments and travel.

Patrick is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Eric) Palmer and his grandkids, Matthew and Chloe Palmer. His sister Karen (Thomas-late) Hill and nieces Sandy (Richie) Burke, Kathy (Andrew) Vitale, Kelly (Matthew) McNairy and nephew, Jeffrey (Kelly) Beckley and his sister-in-law, Frances Beckley.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Beckley, and mother, Stella Beckley, his younger brother William (“Bill”) Beckley, and his niece Tracy (Dave) Parker.

A private memorial will take place at a later date to celebrate his life.
