Through this journey called life we meet many people, and while everyone is valuable in their own way, there are those who add value to your life and make your experiences more meaningful. Patrice was such a person for me and likely for most who were blessed to know her. If you met her she made an impression, but if you knew her she left an imprint on your heart. From her welcoming and engulfing personality to her mischievous sense of humor, one can’t help but smile when you think about the countless times she lifted your spirits or brightened your day by simply being present and being herself. That’s the value she gave to me and many others and it’s something we can hold on to in our hearts and minds forever.

I believe Patrice and I shared a special bond and our continued relationship through trials and tribulations was a testament to that. She was the daughter I never had who became the daughter I couldn’t bare to lose, regardless of circumstances. So while other familial relationships eventually ended, ours endured and lasted until her spirit left this earth. She was a remarkable human being who gave me something no one else was able to give and will occupy a space in my heart that no one else can ever touch. I’m grateful to have had her in my life for the short amount of time she was here and I will cherish her memory for the rest of my days. Rest in peace my beloved daughter, my sister, my friend.

One memory I have of Patrice, she had just completed a 5K while already receiving treatment; I remember being amazed by her positivity, strength and faith. Unfortunately, I didn't get an opportunity to get to know her well but she definitely left a mark. From reading what others have posted it appears that is the person she was, she touched people's lives.

Pete, I know that there are no words that could take away the pain of this loss. I was able to witness everything that you did to be there for Patrice and help her fight this, I hope that it helps provide you some comfort. I pray that your faith provides you the strength to get through this grief. Please know that your Fleet family is also here for you in whatever you need.
