Pamela's obituary

Pamela C. Marcy (b. March 19, 1955) passed peacefully in her sleep on June 15, 2021 and is now dancing in glory with our Father in Heaven. Pam was a strong woman of faith who valued humility, compassion, and empathy above all other virtues. She raised her five children to look for the best in people, sympathize with others amid their struggles, and be kind to those who find themselves unjustly rejected by a bitter world.

Pamela has spent the past 15 years in McMinnville, TN taking care of her aging mother, both of whom were a true joy to watch as they often engaged in good-natured jokes, jabs, and banter. The serenity of nature was Pamela’s sanctuary as she enjoyed gardening and painting scenic landscapes that frequently captured the awe-inspiring beauty of God’s creation.

The nature of Pam’s disease has served as a clear testimony to the healing power of Jesus that may be offered to anyone who has a faith and desire to seek His will. Her melanoma diagnosis at age 19 was essentially a death sentence in the 1970s, but through her faith, the Lord gave her nearly 50 more years to raise five children all with hearts to serve and seek truth in a broken world. We can now take comfort knowing that Pamela has completed the Lord’s purpose for her life on earth and has been called home to spend an eternity with Him.

She is survived by her mother Billie Cutler, three sisters: Marella Aasbø, Carolyn Powell, & Rhonda Cutler, five children: Leigh Clayborne (David), Will Marcy, Kelly Marcy, Forrest Marcy (Sarah), & Simon Marcy (Kayla), five grandchildren: Sophia, Henry, Liza, Maggie, & one on the way, and countless other friends, family, and brothers & sisters in Christ.

In lieu of flowers and according to Pamela’s wishes, the family asks that any donations instead be directed to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. It is also Pamela’s wishes that there not be a formal funeral showing; however, there will be a memorial service in celebration of her life scheduled at a later date. Friends and family will all be notified and welcomed to attend at that time.
