Pam's obituary

With broken hearts, we share the passing of our beloved mother, Pamela, who left us on November 13, 2025 at Vancouver General Hospital. Although, we are devastated by her quick departure from this world, we are thankful she will be freed from her pain in her new Heavenly dwelling, but she will forever be missed.

To all who knew her, we were truly fortunate to experience her strength, beauty, and kindness. Despite her health challenges over the past nine years, she continually showed courage and perseverance , which reflects who she was at her core. Pam stayed true to herself and her values of family, independence, and wellness.

She touched countless lives, and we will honour her by gathering for a Celebration of Life in April 2026. Details to be posted in January 2026.

You’re free from pain now, Mom—free to ride your horse, climb mountains, enjoy every meal, use your hands, and return to all the things you love!

Thank you in advance for your love, your support, and your kind words about our precious mother, Pamela Benjamin. We would love to hear stories, see pictures, video or any other ways you would like to share your memories of her.

Monette, Ariane, & Landis

Pam was born on June 24, 1956, in Gainsborough, Saskatchewan, to her parents, Thayer and Nelda Jackson. During her growing-up years, Pam and her family primarily lived in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan, on a grain farm. Pam loved life on the farm along with her siblings. After Pam graduated from high school, she attended a post-secondary Medical Administrative Services program in British Columbia, which she successfully completed.

Pam returned to Saskatchewan and married Rodney Benjamin on September 6, 1977. They resided in Saskatchewan for a short time and then moved to Alberta, as her parents had relocated to the Lacombe area.

Pam was blessed with three beautiful children, whom she loved deeply. Monette (daughter) was born in 1978, Ariane (daughter) in 1979, and Landis (son) in 1981. It was a very busy time for Pam as she nurtured her children, overseeing each of their developments. She was very proud of them and the beautiful characters they displayed, which brought her immeasurable joy. Pam always placed her children first and worked tirelessly to support them and their interests, often holding down three jobs. She knew exactly what was required at each job and ensured her work was done with professionalism. Employers were blessed to have her in their workplace. Through her work, she guided and encouraged countless colleagues, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of working with her. Work–life balance was challenging, though Pam always held fast to her values of kindness, compassion, and quiet strength, standing up for what she believed in while demonstrating humility. Pam used her skills extensively in the Mission and Abbotsford Hospitals in OR Booking.

Pam was thrilled with the arrival of each of her grandchildren—first Landis’s son Jacob, and daughters Mackenzie and Savannah. Ariane’s son Brody followed. Next came Monette’s son Odel, who went to his Heavenly Home early. Pam will be wrapping him in loads of hugs and much love. Finally, Monette’s daughter Vianna arrived. Pam loved her grandchildren; they added many blessings to her life. She loved nothing more than being involved with her family and watching her grandchildren grow. She was a trooper, willing to participate in whatever they did.

Pam loved raising miniature Australian Shepherd pups, and she had many of them! She had a keen eye for quality in the breed, and her pups were highly sought after. In her last litters, she was gifted with nineteen pups from two females! It was a surprise and a bit overwhelming, though Pam remained focused on raising them, spending quality time with each one. She took great pride in matching pups with people—even within her own family. Pam’s mini Aussies are loyal and kind; anyone who has one knows the special nature of her pups.

Pam took up riding horses again when her daughters became actively involved in Pony Club. She was a talented rider, as was her exceptional horse, Jimmy. Pam and Jimmy were a force to be reckoned with in the show ring, bringing home many ribbons for their performances.

Pam thoroughly enjoyed her circle of friends and a variety of interests, such as hiking, mountain climbing, biking, kayaking, visiting fresh-produce markets, or simply sharing a wonderful meal or cup of tea. She was a tough, focused climber who kept up with the best of them, earning the nickname “mountain goat.”

Pam battled Scleroderma for many years, and it presented her with many challenges in her final years. She sought out natural products and organic foods to help her body function as optimally as possible. She was a knowledgeable resource for others on how to overcome health difficulties. Pam remained courageous as her strength failed, through her faith in the God. Today, she is with her Heavenly Father, and her body is fully restored.

Pam is lovingly remembered by her father, Thayer Jackson; her precious children: Monette (Joshi) and granddaughter Vianna; Ariane and grandson Brody; Landis and grandson Jacob, granddaughters Mackenzie and Savannah.

She is survived by her siblings: Maureen (Grant) and their three children—Colleen, Adam, and Caia; Marcia (Phil); Nola (Jim) and their four children—Carson, Arleta, Bronwen, and Dayla; Lyndon (Loranda) and son Kyle; Darla and her three children—Jessica, Joshua, and Lucas; Alysa and her two children—Sierra and Jackson. She was predeceased by her mother, Nelda Jackson, in November 2024.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Pam at the end of April 2026 near Mission, where she lived for 38 years. Details will be posted in January 2026.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice. Pam was always about helping those in need, and she would be honored by any choice you make.

Pam will be deeply missed by her family, friends, numerous nieces and nephews, and all those whose lives she touched. Though we no longer get to hear her voice, laughter, and wisdom, her faith and love will live on in the hearts of all those she leaves behind.
