Background
My mother, Oralee McWatters, passed away at 6:30 pm on November 7, 2022.
She lived with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia for most of her adult life. She had always wanted to help others with the same illnesses by donating her body to medical research when she passed. As a result, she never purchased life insurance since the research university covers all costs.
Unfortunately, as my wife and I began making arrangements, we discovered that my mom was ineligible for donation due to complete renal failure and severe fluid retention, disqualifying her from the research programs.
My mom lived off of disability and had no life savings. I’m an artist and my wife is a teacher, neither of which are professions that pay particularly well, so we do not have the funds for a proper burial either. In the past year, my mom’s aunt and her sister also passed away, and due to the exorbitant cost of funerals, their respective immediate families cannot help us.
My mom was the most generous person I’ve ever known; she wanted to give even as her final act. Please help us be able to provide her with the final gift of a dignified memorial. Thank you. Contribute
