Ninfa Marie Castaneda was born on November 10, 1919 in Tepechitlan, in Zacatecas, Mexico. She came to the U.S. with her mother and sisters to join her brothers in 1928, and they settled in San Jose, where she spent the majority of her life, watching the city grow as she did. Ninfa lived in the family homes on 2nd and then 3rd street in downtown, graduated from Notre Dame High School in San Jose, and …
