Neil's obituary

In Loving Memory of Neil Allen (1951 – 2025)

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Neil Allen, who departed this life on May 2, 2025.

Neil is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Kim Allen. Their enduring partnership was a beacon of love and commitment to all who knew them. He was a loving father to BJ Allen and Melissa Starkweather, and a proud grandfather to four cherished grandchildren. He is also survived by his two brothers, Paul Allen and David Allen, and many nieces and nephews. His steady presence, heartfelt wisdom, and joyful spirit will remain with his family always.

Neil’s warm personality and infectious sense of humor brought joy to everyone around him. He was a man who loved deeply and lived fully as a devoted husband, wise mentor, and fun-loving dad. A passionate cook and grill master, Neil brought flavor and fun to every gathering, always ready with the perfect gadget for any culinary task.

A 1969 graduate of Amarillo High School, Neil was a proud member of the school band, where he played the tuba. His bond with the school endured long past graduation, as he later became the beloved "Voice of the Sandie Band," announcing for band performances and events for many years.

Professionally, Neil leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and meaningful contributions to the field of respiratory care. Neil made a lasting impact as an associate professor in the Respiratory Care program at Amarillo College. He was actively involved with the Texas Society for Respiratory Care, serving in various capacities, including a term as President. He also served on the Board of Trustees for the Respiratory Care Foundation of Texas (RCFT) since its founding. His dedication and leadership helped shape the profession and touched countless lives.

Neil was a man of integrity, kindness, and humor. His life was a testament to the power of love, compassion, and intellectual curiosity. His legacy will endure through his family, his work, and the many lives he touched throughout his extraordinary journey. He will be deeply missed.

A private family celebration of life will be held on May 25, 2025, in Dallas, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Respiratory Care Foundation of Texas in Neil’s memory.
