While you protected me in life, I did everything I could to protect you in death. Every detail of your homegoing, every decision made, I tried to make sure it honored you, to make sure you would be proud. Because you deserve nothing less. As I wept, the skies opened and the rain fell. When I lifted my gaze, a radiant rainbow spanned the horizon. In that moment, I knew it was you, reminding me that you’re still here. Forever watching over your baby sis from beyond the veil. Rest now, big brother. I love you always.

Anyone who knew Nathan remembers his smile, his booming laughter, his charisma, and the joy he carried when sharing his faith in Jesus.

The past 12 years have been complicated, and my kids and I have lived so many important moments without their dad present. His absence left an ache alongside the memories. This past week, we learned more about Nathan’s final years than we had known in all that time apart. I only wish I’d had that understanding sooner.

Thank you to those who spoke with us, who helped us put some pieces of the puzzle in place. Thank you for loving on Nathan right where he was—challenging him with truth, extending grace, mercy, and compassion. Thank you for affirming his desire to share the same, to share the love of Jesus with everyone around him, and for confirming how much he loved his children.

Even within the tension of grief and gratitude, we have hope. And I KNOW that Nathan is now enjoying perfect peace in the presence of our Lord Jesus.

Nathan, our kids carry the very best parts of you—your huge hands, your smile, your incredible strength, physique, & athleticism, your wit, your gift with numbers, and most importantly, your love for the Lord, for studying His Word, and for loving others. Those parts of you live on in them, and for that I am grateful. They are your legacy. Thank you. We love you.  Our hearts ache. Until we meet again… 💔

I have fond memories of Nathan during the summers my sister and I visited Stillwater! I remember watching him play football, and him dunking my sister and I in the pool! I also remember him driving me around, playing the best 90s RnB! He had big binders of cds. He definitely contributed to my taste in music! His laugh was infectious. I will always look back on those summers as some of the happiest memories of my childhood and in part it was due to Nathan being his fun and funny self!

Oh no. What heartache for all those who knew him. What great young man he was, always had a smile and was ready to take a few moments to visit with me anytime I saw him. He would stand with his arms folded across his chest and have a great conversation about anything at all. He was so young, but God must have had another need for him and shortened his time here on earth with all of us. My heart goes out to all of his wonderful family and children in this time of such devastation of the heart.
