Nancile's obituary

Nancile Baker Nease O’Conner, 85, of Fernandina Beach passed away on July 20, 2023 with her family at her side. One of thirteen siblings, Nancile was born in Tison, Georgia to James “Boy” Baker and Ruby Kicklighter Baker. Nancile married Edward Leonard Nease in 1954 and they shared their life for nearly 40 years. Together they raised their two boys in Fernandina Beach.

To know Nancile was to know unconditional love. She was a woman of incredible grace who had the ability to see the best in everyone. Nancile was faithful and generous. Living a life that exemplified the love of Christ, she was a lifelong caregiver, slow to anger and quick to forgive, feet shod with preparation of the gospel of peace.

Nancile was known and loved throughout the local community. She worked for Nassau County School Board until she retired and was a faithful member of Five Points Baptist Church for over 60 years. It was in church that Nancile met her second husband, James  John “JJ” O’Conner. During their marriage, Nancile embraced his family, showering love on his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Nancile has loved well. She was preceded in death by her parents and eleven siblings, along with Leonard, her husband of nearly 40 years, and JJ, her husband of 15 years. She is survived by her sister, Anglyn Anderson; sons Steve (Belinda) Nease and David (Kathy) Nease; grandchildren, Todd (Amanda), Jessica (Felix), Glinda (CJ), Jase (Gaelyn), Jesus and Uriah; numerous great-grandchildren; and countless other loved ones including JJ’s family, and her dearest friends, Janet Williams and Juanita Perry.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 24, 2023 in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors beginning at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 AM.

She will be laid to rest at Bosque Bello Cemetery. The viewing will be held at Oxley Heard Funeral Home on 7/24/2023 at 10am, preceding the funeral at 11am, with graveside service immediately following at Bosque Bello Cemetery.

The family asks that memorial contributions be made, in her name, to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.
