Clara's obituary
Mrs. Clara Otemaa Danquah fondly called Ataa Akosua, age 85 passed away at home on March 20, 2021.
Ataa Akosua was born on Sunday April 19, 1936 at Amanase, (near Suhum) in the Eastern Region to the late Edward Addo-Yobo and the late Mercy Kobeh Adu.
Her education began at Obosomase Presbyterian School through Nsawam Senior School. Her early life was beset with difficulty. She lost her mother at the early age of eleven and lived with her aunt during her formative years. She lost her father at the age of twenty-one. Determined to make a meaningful contribution to society, she pursued her tertiary education all the way to Agogo and Aburi Teacher Training Colleges where she studied to become a professional teacher.
Upon graduation from Aburi Teacher Training College, she taught at various schools at Asamankese and Aburi during the early years of her career. Ataa Akosua married the late Percy Fredua Agyemang Danquah in 1960 and five children were born from this union.They both relocated to Adabraka where she continued with her teaching career. The family eventually moved to Teshie-Nungua Estates in 1971 where she taught and rose to the level of superintendent for Kpehesie District Nursery Schools under the Ministry of Education.
Ataa Akosua encountered challenges which she overcame with faith, perseverance and her deep-rootedness in the Christian faith. She lost her husband during the prime of her life in 1979 and ended up raising five children as a single parent.
She retired from Ghana Education Service in 1991 and took to charity work and active service in her church amongst others. She loved to read her bible, praying for and with others, spending time with family, laughing and always wearing a smile on her face. Ataa Akosua was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother and friend, always thinking of others first. To know Ataa Akosua was to love her.
In her later years, she battled with various ailments that took a toll on her health. She was called to eternity at 11:00 am on March 20, 2021. Final funeral rites will be held on Saturday May 15, 2021 at United Church at Teshie-Nungua Estates.
Ataa Akosua, rest in perfect peace with the LORD until we meet again. Damirifa due.
