I am so sorry about Mike’s passing...I remember when Maryanne and Mike started their life together 46 years ago....they had a real love story that lasted through the years....truly blessed!Sammy and Mary will always have their beautiful memories.I believe he will watch over you both from heaven.Protective and loving as always....
You are all in my thoughts and prayers😇🙏💕
The Oakleys were our closest cousins. There were six of them and five of us, and we all had a least one cousin who was in our age group. For me it was mostly Gail, but it was also Michael. Because our mothers were sisters and our dads were good friends - and because we lived just a few blocks from each other in NJ for a while - we were like one big family. We shared so many family memories that, in some ways, losing Mike is like losing a brother. Since Francis and I moved to Yucca Vally, we would meet Mike for lunch when he came to our area for work. He loved to tell stories - and he had quite a few! Always entertaining and upbeat, it was always fun to spend time with him. We send our prayers and love with him on his journey.

Mike was a very good loyal friend. He was a genuine honest man. Dementia is an awful disease. He was very fortunate to have such a caring wife in Mary and daughter Samantha. Rest in peace Mike; you earned it. Go Mets:)

Mike and I were on the wrestling team at Newfield High back in the very early seventies. Mike was a good wrestler; me not so much.(I was only there cause Mike was there) I remember during a tournament Mike was paired with a renowned wrestler from somewhere on the island. In the third period of his match Mike ended up on his back with one arm also under his back; this arm was in a position nature usually doesn't allow. The renowned wrestler was bearing down on Mikes chest with all his weight to create as much pain as possible in order to make Mike give up and let his other shoulder touch the mat and thereby be pinned. I could see the pain in Mikes eyes and yet the resolve not to be pined. Mike made it to the buzzer and did not get pinned. I can't remember if Mike ended up winning by a point or losing by a point, it doesn't matter (hey that guy took state the year before) the point is Mike fought fiercely and did not give up. He had the ability to put in a little more effort than most others. I was in awe of him that day.
Through the years Mike and I went our separate ways but we stayed in touch. This was mainly due to the extra effort Mike made. And this was the lesson Mike taught me and I really didn't get it till now....Make a little more effort to stay in touch with the ones you love and care about! Make it one of Mike's legacies! !

The most fun with Oak was always the next time!
In response to "What was the most fun you ever had with Michael?"
Mike is my cousin.....two things I remember about Mike
1) He loved the Three Stooges....you could always find him watching them....morning....noon or nite.

2) Mike made the best leg of lamb, that I can truly say, it was the best I ever had...Miss you already Mike. Love you!
My heart is broken. June

My Dad LOVED April Fools day. I can't tell you how many years my mom and I opened a door in the house only to have a bucket of water fall on us. But his best ever was when he switched the refrigerator door on us. He kept the handle on the normal side, but you had to open it the opposite way. We all had a good laugh, then went to work/school. I came home from school, went to open the fridge, and it was switched again! He somehow swapped it on us another 1 or 2 times even while we were home. He was laughing at us all day long over that one.
We could tell so many stories, but Mike always got his version of a chuckle out of telling us, on his way to or from LA/Orange Co., that he was on the Parkway, explaining that on the 5, the 405, the 15 or wherever, he was PARKED. We will miss him.
Shared a heart Red heart
