Michael's obituary
Michael Raymond Mignano, 72, of Milwaukie, Oregon, passed away on August 20, 2024. Born on May 9, 1952, in Yonkers, New York, Mike attended Saint Bartholomew Catholic Elementary School, Sacred Heart Catholic High School and furthered his education at Westchester Community College, where he earned degrees in Business Marketing and Accounting. His lifelong love of learning drove him to quickly complete the Certified Financial Planning professional education program through the College for Financial Planning in Denver, Colorado in 1988.
His professional life was marked by significant achievements in the field of finance, where he served as a Financial Advisor with IDS, and as a Certified Financial Planner with American Express Financial Advisors and Ameriprise Financial. His dedication to his work was recognized on numerous occasions, including countless awards and his inclusion time and time again in the Million Dollar Round Table events. He made the cover of Financial Planning magazine and was listed as one of the top 100 financial planners by Mutual Funds magazine.
Mike understood the importance of time, and time well spent. He loved to gather friends and family for an evening filled with laughter, wine, a spread of appetizers, and a hearty meal. His love for others was evident in his unwavering commitment to his community. He served diligently in his local Kiwanis club for over 30 years, and his charitable spirit extended to his service on the board of several non-profits, including but not limited to, the Italian Businessman’s Club, Ingand Leyte Project, Housecall Providers, and Mount Hood Kiwanis Camp. His culinary skills were well known and greatly appreciated at the many fundraiser meals he helped organize.
Mike’s greatest joy in life was the role he played in raising his three daughters. He taught them and showed by great examples that one needs to work hard, that every penny counts, and if there’s a will there’s a way. His family will always remember the smell of his signature marinara simmering for 20 hours while he proudly spoke of his Italian parents and heritage. They will miss the important life lessons he imparted on long rides in the car, his larger-than-life smiles, his sense of adventure, and his love for travel, people, and humor.
A dedicated family man, Michael's survivors include his daughters, Rose Mignano (Blake Hagan), Samantha Holmes (Ben Holmes), Natasha Lunt (Paul Lunt), and stepson, David Ingwood (Denise Ingwood); his sister, Michelle Mignano; nephews, Jared Keene and Sam Mignano; nieces, Ceara Casivant and Brianne Mignano; grandchildren, Derek Ingwood, Dylan Ingwood, Eli Mignano, Natalie Pelletier-Lunt, Taylor Lunt, Beckham Lunt, and Yarrow Hagan; and great grandchildren, Mia Ingwood, Lennox Ingwood, Emeri Ingwood, and Rory Ingwood. He was predeceased by his wife, Peggy Mignano; his mother, Rose Mignano; his father, Samuel Mignano; and his brother, Brian Mignano.
Mike's faith was an integral part of his life. He was a devout parishioner at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Oregon City and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Milwaukie. A man of diverse interests, Mike enjoyed golf, travel, cooking, volunteering, and cheering on his favorite football team, the Oregon Ducks. Even as he faced the challenges of Parkinson's disease, he continued to explore the world with enthusiasm. He never let his new disabilities get the best of him. He lived each day with a positive outlook, a love for life with all those around him, and an unforgettable smile upon his face.
True to who he was, Mike did not want a memorial service, but a party for all to gather. A celebration of Michael's life will take place on Friday, March 28th, 2025, from 5:00-8:00 pm at the Milwaukie Center located at 5440 Kellogg Creek Dr, Milwaukie, Oregon, 97222. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his memory to the Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp Foundation, the Ingan-Leyte Project through Montavilla Kiwanis Club, the Italian Benvenuti Club, Housecall Providers Hospice, the Parkinson’s Foundation, the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, or the St. John's Catholic Community Foundation of Milwaukie, Oregon.
Mike's joyful presence and his dedication to his family, career, and community will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
