Background: I've been thinking about ways to cope with Michael's upcoming yahrzeit (Oct 15 Gregorian calendar, Nov 3 Hebrew calendar), and something he cared about tremendously and deeply was food security. This was an extremely personal issue for him. I decided that a virtual food drive for the local food bank where we grew up would be a good way to comfort and nourish the living while honoring his memory.
