In Loving Memory of Meme
Meme was a shining light in our community. She was lost way too soon. Her infectious smile could brighten the darkest of days, and her kindness knew no bounds. Whether offering snacks on a job or lending a helping hand, Meme's generous spirit touched us all. She had a real knack for always finding the best deals out there on anything you may be looking to purchase and she would help scour the internet to find these deals. Though she may be physically gone, her warmth and compassion will forever linger in our hearts. Rest in peace, dear Meme.

My heart is broken. My dearest friend I will miss you so. We shared laughs, tears and joy. Started college together then as coworkers and became such good friends. I will continue to share the Memeisms. So blessed to have had you in my life. Love you always. My thoughts and prayers to Keith and the boys. 💗

Where do I start?? Which story?? How SO often she would have a trinket or something to share/give you. I think my favorite is the pink pen with the big fake diamond at the top. Or maybe how she would walk into a job and when she introduced herself she would say, “ you know, like April April, MeMe”. Or we can go way back when she took her first sign language class at the college. How lucky was I that she walked into my classroom. I met her as I taught ASL 101 and 102. From a student, she became a friend and a colleague. Oh, she even was the babysitter for my two kids when they were young. I will miss you my friend. There is a little less light in my world. Thank you for being you.

I loved MeMe. 💙 I was fortunate to have teamed with her for an ongoing assignment, long ago. I always looked forward to our days working together. I absolutely adored her. She was so smart, so supportive and loving, and so funny. I loved watching her interpret. Beautiful. Last time I saw her she walked in and she *exuded sunshine.☀️* We hugged, and caught up, and I smiled as I departed. How could anyone walk away from MeMe and not be smiling. Impossible. Her joy was contagious. I will miss her. ❤️

Always bringing laughter with her. That's how I will always remember Meme. We were at work and I could not find her. She snapped this photo making sure I could find her.
The last time we spoke I said,"see you later alligator!" ❤️ And I will, I will see you later.
My heartfelt condolences to her family and her many friends.

Meme was the very first interpreter I had the honor to team with as I started working as a brand new freelance interpreter. She was such a calm and reassuring presence. Grateful and will miss her...

Less than a few hours ago I cooked a fried rice recipe Meme showed myself and my mom YEARS ago. My son and I have been enjoying it for years and will continue to. I remember as an early adolescent and then young mother, I idolized Meme. She's so beautiful, kind and smart. I will miss her.

Meme was like no other ASL interpreter I’ve encountered. I believe that I met her back in August 2021, when I just came back to community college after COVID-19 turned every class into an online session. I don’t think she was my long-term interpreter during that semester, but even then, in just one day, I could see she cared about me so much. Then we finally reunited two years later for my fall semester at ASU where we became close; she interpreted for my Forensic Anthropology class, which is a very hard class and she did an amazing job at keeping up with the content given. Every time I walked into class, she would say “Good morning, boss man” and I thought it was funny because I’m not the actual boss, but she treated me as one because I have the power to send any interpreter home if I felt like I didn’t need one that day.
Meme was a kind person, filled with love and care. Often people don’t realize that interpreters aren’t just accommodations to a deaf person’s life, but they’re their support as well, they’re their help, their ears, and everything they need to become a success.
Thank you Meme, for being amazing and giving me the support and encouragement that I need to pass the hardest class ever. She was curious as if she was the student herself, that’s how great she was. No one did it like Meme.
Thank you for being you.
Goodbye, my good friend. I love you 😢❤️
