It is with tender sadness and profound respect that we mark the passing of Maurita "GrammaRita" Lavy, who left us on October 23, 2025. Born in 1933, Maurita lived a life full of love, laughter, and learning, leaving her unique imprint on all she met.

Maurita made a loving donation to science and medical education by arranging for her remains to be donated to the UCSD Medical School more than 15 years ago. I know that they will treat her remains with the utmost respect and that it will serve an important service in the education of future physicians. A memorial is not planned per her wishes but we have created this site for family and friends to share cherished memories and thoughts about her long and full life.
