Maurilio was a wonderful person. I knew him from grad school. He was kind, friendly and also a gentle soul. After the birth of my son he sent us a onesie, which was really lovely. He will be deeply missed. I am so saddened by his death, he had so much life in him. My his memory be a blessing.
I met Maurilio when we both were college students interning in Washington, DC. We discovered that we both grew up in Chico, CA even though we attended "rival" high schools.  We stayed in touch  close during almost three decades as we both ended up graduating from the same master's public policy program & both building lives in the Bay Area after graduate school. Every time we'd catch up over the past few decades, our conversations would immediately gravitate towards our families, career & life choices. We could both support each other with meaningful advice but humorously mock each other with sarcastic wit in the same sentence. I think of Maurilio as a brother - someone who I knew shared similar values of compassion, family, & community. I'll miss him so much. ❤️

I would like to send my condolence's to  the Leon Family. It was many years ago that Maurilio and I worked together at the Spanish Speaking Unity Council. Gila Gonzales when on a sabitelce and Maurilio Filled in as CEO. He did a great job in teambuilding and upper management support. I was responsible for the day to day of Peralta Service Corporation. He will be greatly missed. Harold Dees 510 681 4064
