Elizabeth: Saw the listing of Maurice's passing in the West Point magazine today and both Suzanne and I were hit with the same feeling of great sadness Recall many good times when we were stationed in Germany: skiing together(my frozen bluejeans), your hosting of Kenny's christening celebration, Maurice and I dropping your magnificent grandfather clock beveled glass door down the stairwell(not a great memory), and many other memories. Please know we are thinking of you.

I am stunned and saddened beyond belief to learn of the passing of my Friend Maurice. He and I became fast-friends one day sitting in his Jeep, in the rain, at Eagle Landing State Park discussing what we thought had been our cross purposes - me, the railroad that runs beneath his driveway, and he, wanting to see the railroad corridor contribute more to passive and active recreation. We found we had much more in common than we thought - a friendship was forged, and our purposes aligned. I will miss his wisdom, enthusiasm, and vision terribly. And just him - he was a great guy.
