Matthew Ignatius Sullivan, 31, passed away Friday, September 9, 2022, at the University of Iowa Hospital, in Iowa City, Iowa.

He was born September 29, 1990 in Syracuse, NY, the son of Timothy Sullivan Sr. and Lisa (Massett) Sullivan. Matthew was raised in Syracuse and graduated from BVM Academy in 2008. Matthew also graduated from Washburn University in Topeka with his bachelor’s degree as a financial analyst. He had lived in New York until moving to Kansas in 2010.

Matthew and Valerie were joyously united in marriage on September 3, 2022 in Michigan. Matthew was known by all who knew him as the kindest, sweetest soul, always accompanied with a big smile and a way to make you laugh.

Matthew was preceded in death by his mother, Lisa Sullivan, who passed away a few months ago.

Matthew is survived by his new wife, Valerie. Other survivors include his father, Timothy Sullivan Sr; brothers: Timothy Sullivan Jr. (Erin), Andrew Sullivan (Kassidi), Joseph Sullivan, Benedict Sullivan, Tobias Sullivan, and Jacob Sullivan; sisters: Mary Panico (Gregory), Gabrielle Tompkins (Aldries), and Regina Sullivan; His in-laws, Carl and Cara Muntean.

Requiem Mass will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 16, 2022, at Assumption Chapel in St. Marys. Interment will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. Thursday, September 15, 2022, at Piper Funeral Home. A Rosary will be prayed at 5:20 P.M. at Assumption Chapel following the visitation.
