Happy memories with his Uncle, Pinto; from Picanto's Ristorante. From left to right: Matthew's Uncle Pinto, Chef Remy and 'Mattheo', our fond nickname for Matthew. We (Uncle Pinto and wife Ayla), have so many fond memories of Matthews warmest of smiles first thing in the morning, and the best Cappuccinos from our Chimbali. "Good morning", with his hat skew over his unruly blonde hair, and making some delightful remark that leaves us all laughing. This would go on throughout the whole day, until we close up in the early morning hours after a good day of serving people as if they where our friends. Matthew was a master at listening and then replying with exactly what that person needed to hear to make the world feel allright once again. On a very hard day, he wrote on the whiteboard: "Things have to fall apart so they can fall back together again". I still remember, vividly, him standing there... writing it in blue ink, turn around and smile. No matter how he touched one's life, it was always with utmost kindness and generosity to all he encountered. Matthew's gentle manner, kindness of heart & pleasant jokes will forever have a space in our hearts. Mattheo, RIP sweet and kind soul. — with Matthew Saunders
