Miss you. Will keep you in our thoughts for ever. Rest in peace.
Martha was always so friendly and warm and excited to see our family as if we were related- and not just connected by my being the sister to Dave- married to her granddaughter Nikki.  I will remember her cult following amongst all that met her, the way she sparkled with joy and laughter at Nikki's baby shower for yet to be born Nova, and the attention she gave you when you talked.  My love to the whole enormous clan!!

I had such fun talking with both Martha and Mildred at the reunion on the Wessling farm (thanks to Judy and Roger) . Mildred hopped in our car and narrated as we drove past the family homes in Grand Junction. Later I spoke with the two sisters about what it was like to grow up with my mom, Lois Wessling, and what my grandparents Cora and Ray were really like. Their memories were specific and vivid! I’ll always remember that time with joy.

Martha and her family were my first acquaintances here at Collington, where she lived, when I arrived just after her husband, Chuck, had died. The warmth of her personality and our discovery that we shared so many ideas and values in common made for an instant friendship. She was always an inspiration as she reached out to so many people and followed her inquisitive mind wherever it led. The fact that she was absorbed in her favorite activity, memory writing, only a few days before she died, is an unbelievable tribute to her great ability to live her life to the fullest right up to the end.
Our thoughts are with Martha’s family. She was such a fun and loving aunt. What a blessing it is to be a part of this great Steward family! Carey and Johnetta
I have so enjoyed these pictures and memories of the Smith Family and getting to know Martha better through them. It is evident where my dear friend Deb got her kindness, wit, warmth and zest for silliness! I know you are all grieving this amazing woman - my heartfelt condolences to you. Kristi Bergland Ragar
The tribute to Martha was very well done. Loved the stories and insight into Martha's life. Just confirms the warm and loving memories that we have of her. Bill always thought so highly of his brother, Chuck, and Martha. Martha will always be missed but never forgotten.

We were so sorry to hear about Martha's passing. She was such a wonderful and generous person. And thank you Cathy for introducing her to me and my husband. Sending you and Dan lots of love and light!

Dear Smith Family

You did an amazing job of remembering your mother, grandmother, great grandmother, mother in law ❤️

I will always remember her friendly manner and special interest she took in whoever she was with. Martha surely did live a wonderful life.

I had the pleasure of sharing two semesters of memoir writing with Martha. A wonderful writer, she conveyed joy and wisdom, humor and frustration, and deep love for family. What a blessing to know her even for a brief moment in her life...and mine.
Sending all of my love to Granny Smith's family, especially Leigh Ann. I never met her but am grateful for how hard she loved! X

I only knew Martha a short time through our Friday afternoon memoirs class. I shall always remember her
kind words and her thought provoking comments as we shared our life stories. I will miss her.
It was such a pleasure sharing the memoir writing class with Martha. Listening to her stories was always enjoyable. And such a sharp mind! We will miss her.

Although we often arrived to Grandma's apartment late at night after a long flight, it was always a party. I'll miss those moments of kids crawling on the bed and Grandma laughing, "Oh, just look at her! Can you believe it?" She was pure joy.
