My great-grandmother was beautiful hard working woman. She was a big piece in heart and still is. ❤️

Mrs. Allen treated me like a son. She never judged and took delight in listening to whatever you brought up with her. Martha Patterson Allen left a positive impression on all who were able to be in her space. She will be missed.
Prayer For Sister Martha Allen

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well with my soul!

Dear God, we come before you as always to first, say thank you.  We thank you for every manifold blessing that you continue to bestow upon us.  We just want to thank you for this time of remembrance. We thank you for this time of pleasant memories of those saints that have lived in our midst and have gone on to the Glory that you have promised for each of us, who lives in your will.  We thank you for showing us examples of the patient love and forgiving grace that you have made known to us through these your earthen vessels and through your Son, our Savior, Jesus the Christ.

We thank you for your love, because you are the God who knew us before we were formed in our mother's womb. And you are the God who consecrated each of us for your service. We thank you for your grace; for you are the God who laid hands on us to cure us of our ailments. And you commanded us to go sin no more. And we thank you for your mercy; that you bestowed unto each of us, while we were yet still sinners, which you do out of your abundant love.

It is because you believe that we are worthy, that you love us toward that change that leads us back to the righteousness of purity and holiness in which you first formed us when you made us in your likeness and image and to our life of eternity with our Creator.

We thank you for these saints who have gone before us and our remembrance intrinsic to our Eucharist meal of Holy Communion. Help us to never forget those days. Help us to always remember to fulfill your great mission for Sharp Street Memorial United Methodist Church, and all of your Christian soldiers to go forth and make disciples that make a difference. And give us the wisdom to know and forever proclaim that, "It is well, it is well with our souls.”

God, you have blessed and enriched our lives in giving us these earthen vessels, to know and love here on earth. Though our time together was not nearly long enough, in committing Martha’s soul to your providence, we give over to you the care of her spirit, and we acknowledge that we will one day reunite with her in God's house where Jesus has prepared a room for each of us. May the Lord bless and keep the Allen/Patterson families; may he make his face shine upon them and be gracious unto them; may the Lord God look upon them with his gracious favor and give them his perfect PEACE.

“Whatever my lot, thou has taught me to say, It is well, it is well with my soul!”

Prayerfully Submitted To The Glory Of God,

Oh Martha P! What can I say? For the past 7 years we've resided together on Talbot Road. I've seen your best days and some not-so-good days. We had a special relationship you and I. But I wouldn't trade the memories for anything. Only you could look at one of my culinary masterpieces and say, what the heck is that😂? Usually I hit a home run with your taste buds, but every now and then you let me know I'd missed the mark. You were open, honest, and transparent. There was never any question about what you were thinking. You let us know beyond the shadow of a doubt.
You kept the whole household in line. I'm just sorry that you never told me what to do when you were gone. With fondest memories and nothing but Love in my heavy heart.
Donna M. Prisock-Allen

My mother and my aunt, her younger sister Anna, told us the story – more than once – about how they were approached by the U.S. government to do some undercover spy work during World War II.
They were approached in early 1944 by representatives of the O.S.S. – the forerunner of the modern CIA. The agents decided that Martha and Anna looked sufficiently native to go undercover and work as American spies in the Philippines. At the time the Philippine Islands were occupied by the Imperial Japanese Army who, as it turns out were not too keen on entertaining American spies.
The sisters were intrigued and discussed the opportunity for a bit. They turned the offer down because (1) there was a severe language barrier existing (2) neither was a trained Cyanide capsule swallowing secret agent and (3) they both laughed when they surmised that their identities as African-American women would be revealed the first time it rained. Good point, ladies.
Martha ended up aiding the war effort on the home front by helping out on a couple of War Bond drives.

Love you, Mom PJA
