Dearest Alice, Matias, Camilla and Andres,

We are thinking of you and sending all our love. We are so sorry and deeply saddened. We will always remember Markus’ energy, kindness, charisma and lovely smile. The kids would ask him to repeat and imitate famous lines from movies with a deep voice and Austrian accent. He was happy to do it because it amused them so much. Sebastian particularly appreciated Markus taking him to sporting events in Washington.

With much love,

Carolina, Freddie, Sebastian and Christian

I played pick-up soccer on Saturday mornings with Markus and he was always a tough opponent (when on the other side) and a good teammate (when on the right side).  He will be missed.  My condolences to your family.    Best, Dave

Thinking of you and the kids at this very difficult time, Judith and Gonzalo

Dear Alice, Camila, Matias and Andres,

We have no words to express how very sorry we are about the early passing of Markus.  We will always remember his simple smile, caring personality,  inquisitive mind and interesting brain.   There was nothing else he cared more than his family. We are sure he will always look upon you all with love and protection.  We hope you find peace and acceptance in these difficult times. We send you a very big HUG!  Claudia & Michael

Dear Alice, Camilla, Matthias, and Andres,

We are sending you our deepest condolences. Markus was a wonderful person, gentle, caring, and determined to leave the world and especially all those around him in a better place. And it worked, as so many in this stream are attesting to. Sometimes it was about the little things: our kids still remember Markus as the best ski instructor on the slopes of Killington, making sure everyone enjoys as much as he did.

Dear Alice, our sincere condolences to you and your family. This is so hard to believe and we’re so sorry. We have so many wonderful memories of Markus (Innsbruck, Vienna, Washington DC and much more) He was a wonderful person, and will be greatly missed.

Thinking of you during this difficult time and sending great big hugs your way! Guenter & Alex

Dear Alice, Matthias, Andres and Camilla,

we are so sorry to hear your sad news and know that Markus will be terribly missed and never forgotten. The letter that I sent 15th November will sadly not have reached him . But I am glad to still have such happy memories of the trip I made with my late wife Heidi to your lovely home in Warsaw. Your visits to us in Austria and particularly the visit made by Markus to Heidi in 2009 when she was already very ill remain treasured memories.  My wife Jacky and I were delighted to receive you and Markus in our present home in Graz. Thank you for keeping in touch .  Our deepest sympathies go out to you all at this difficult time. Big hugs to you all.
