Oh Micaela, I am so very sorry to hear about Mark’s sudden passing. Mark was an unusually special man in my view and it was always obvious to me that you had both found the love of your lives in each other. That was a treasured gift for both of you and you often glowed with it when I saw you together.
Mark was always so kind and particularly aware of other peoples feelings. He was very sweet and thoughtful towards me a number of times when he sensed, correctly (!!), that I was feeling low. His smile was always there as he related to the world. It was often just nice to look across the room at that always present warm smile.
As a widow of almost 3years myself, I do know a lot about the drill. If you ever need to talk and want to be totally private, I will be honored to be of any help or comfort.
For now, get through what you must and then try to be very kind to yourself. Spend whole days undressed and in bed. Cry a lot. Encourage family to cry and talk. Try to spend as much time as you can alone though, maybe just floating in your mind and staring out a window. I did all of this and more for the first 6 months. It helped me a lot. Aloneness with my pets was healing for me.
I don’t know the circumstances of your life but be very kind to Micaela, as much as possible. Mark wants this for you now, I am positive. Also, don’t make any big life decisions for at least a year. Not kidding.
Again Micaela, I am heartbroken for you and for your family. You all are in my prayers. Call me anytime if you need…
Love, Abby

So sorry to hear this! Mark was an incredible guy, a fine horseman, caring human, a great pianist, very giving and kind. When you needed a great job done, be it cooking food at the rodeo, building a special equipment shed for a demanding client, or helping set up an event, Mark was the best! Hardworking, thoughtful, talented. So sorry for your loss. He was a guy that made the World a better place. I always loved talking with him, seeing him riding, and working by his side.

I am sorry for your lost, Mark was one great man, and he loved you to the fullest. He always had a smile on his face & always a big hug and kiss, what a great cook. Mark will be missed by many. I loved our visits to Dexters & Betsy Home, with the two of you, amazing conversations. Our walks are meet ups at S.R. It is hard to understand why God would take a special person so young in life, yet he must of needed Mark In HEAVEN. Sending you my hand & love in anything you may need. I Love You PEACE Your Friend Lynn

Micaela, I’m so sorry for the enormous, sudden loss of the love of your life. My memory was during one of the big events of the San Mateo County Horseman’s Association at the Woodside Mounted Patrol. It was the big annual event where awards were given and new leaders were announced, I think. We all got a little more dressed up, I wore my leopard print dress and my black cowboy boots, and everyone had fun eating and drinking and dancing. Mark was in the kitchen and I had offered to help out before and during the event, so I was helping Mark in the kitchen. It was the first time I had met him, I think, and I’ll just never forget how kind and personable he was. He had such a warm smile and gentle eyes. You could see he was a loving soul, and in the many years after that event, it was so wonderful to see the two of you so in love with each other. I’m so sorry for your loss. You and Mark were so blessed to have each other! 😭🙏💔🐴

Not only was Mark our friend and neighbor, but Dexter and I think of Mark and Micaela as family. We've shared many meals, walks, serious and not-so-serious conversations both, living room games and dance parties, and much love and laughter. These are the memories we will cherish. Together we've lived through many highs and lows known as the adventure of life.
We have lost and will always remember a skilled craftsman, talented chef and music aficionado, avid horseman, animal lover, and expert jester. We will miss Mark, a gentleman with a smile always at the ready; and his quietly contemplative, observant, empathetic nature.
We will miss our friend.

We have known Mark in two capacities. First and foremost, we have known Mark as Micaela's loving husband. His love and devotion to her (and her mother) were unmistakable. The time that they had together, although too short, was a blessing. We also knew Mark as a general contractor who did a good deal of work on our home, which meant that we got to spend a lot of time with him, particularly during Covid. His presence in our home made a time of upheaval and chaos enjoyable. He was creative, talented and above all, calm. He had a wonderful and subtle sense of humor. Mark was the salt of the earth. We are grateful for the time we had with him, and while at home we will be surrounded by the warmth and beauty that he created.

I wanted to share this picture of Mark with Micaela and my 90-year old mom, because it exemplifies our great memories together and what we will miss so such about him: the riding (we rode our horses to the shack that day), his talent for music (he played the piano for us there), his cooking (he fixed lunch, and nice cocktails too!), and his ability to connect and relate to people (my Mom still remembers their discussions fondly).
Mark, we miss you already.
All my condolences to Micaela and Mark's family for this tragic loss.

Micaela and family,
I am deeply saddened by Mark's passing. My memories of him in CA are of him always smiling, patient and sincere. He was the first to walk with me down to the pasture and show me how to put a halter on and take it off. (I'm not a rider). He was always so calm and I loved his smile. Peace Mark!

Mark was such an awesome guy. Met him a few times, each time he was always inviting and friendly. He also makes a mean turkey during Thanksgiving! Rest in peace Mark.

Mark cooked a wonderful dinner for my wedding reception. I knew him for a brief moment, but am thankful for his kindness. Rest in power, Mark.
