Both graduating from Missouri School of Mines as engineers, Mark and I (Fred) were friends for four decades. If the challenge was technical (IT, mechanical, electrical), then Mark could and would “figure it out.” Accordingly, I was able to hire Mark four different times — and, he never disappointed. We shared some really fun work locations: Murfreesboro, Cleveland, and San Antonio twice! He was always a good Mr. Inside, and trained himself to be Mr. Outside.

Like most engineers, Mark collected tools. Unlike many engineers, Mark knew how to use them! Mark was logical, analytical, measured — impossible to overcome during a debate.

Alison and I knew Mark’s entire family — who he loved dearly. His wife, Diana, was the love of his life. We enjoyed traveling on family vacations from fishing in the north woods, to meeting up on a tour of MidWest State Capitols to Diana and Alison adventuring in London and Cuernavaca — while Mark held down the fort! Mark enjoyed golf, car racing, and good food (which he and Diana both knew how to prepare — and we frequently enjoyed!).

Mark was a colleague and a loyal friend. His sudden passing was a shock to us, and we are now bereft a friend. We promise to doubly treasure our friendship with Diana, and stay close. We miss our dear friend.
