Mark's obituary
THE BELOVED MARK BRADY, Ph.D.
Mark Brady, Ph.D. passed away on July 31, 2025.
Mark was a father, husband, brother, friend, neuroscience educator,
writer and businessman. He was also a contractor/house builder for many years.
He was a dog lover and forest walker.
Mark was beloved by many people across a wide spectrum
of lifestyles, lifespans, and across cultures. He was generous with his wisdom,
with his time, and he was an excellent listener.
Many years ago, together with friends, Mark co-founded the Children’s Grief
Program at Kara, a public service agency in Palo Alto, California where he only
stopped volunteering upon moving to Whidbey Island, Washington.
In addition to being a long-time member of the graduate research faculty
at Sofia University.
He wrote a weekly column on social neuroscience for parents
(The Committed Parent). He also wrote a weekly blog titled The Flowering Brain
and freely offered in depth book analysis and reviews.
Mark spent 10 years at The Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences
at Stanford, one of the nation’s premier think tanks (as the maintenance man).
He was also the prize-winning author of a number of books, magazine articles and
academic papers. Most recent is a three book trilogy that provides specific practices for
improving listening skills. These and other titles can be ordered wherever
fine books are sold on the Internet.
In recent years, Mark built small homes for people who had no home. He served on
the board for The School of Unusual Learning. He met and trained individuals
and diverse groups across the country sharing his transpersonal neuroscience
expertise. Most recently he offered webinars on the topic of
Embodied Altruism: Connecting Brain to Heart.
And, as always he read prolifically!
Mark's contributions to individuals, groups and to the world at large seeded
many a whole hearted life. His was a life well lived, and he was deeply loved.
