Maria Esther San Martin de Campos Ortega of North Lauderdale, FL passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2020 surrounded by her family. with her sons at her side. She was 64 years old.
Maria was a kind and generous person who would do anything for her friends and family, and absolutely adored her grandchildren and nieces. She loved everyone - including her pets! She worked hard to make a good life, and was a fiercely independent and strong person - she accomplished whatever she set her mind to.
Maria enjoyed spending time with her friends, dancing the bachata, and showering her loved ones with gifts at every occasion.
She was fond of elephants, of gardening and held a special place in her heart for the children of St. Jude's.
Gone too soon, she will be deeply missed by many.
You will be forever in our hearts, mommy. We love you!

Our circle of friends and family plan to hold a Memorial Mass followed by an intimate gathering at the home of her eldest son. The mass will be broadcast virtually so that anyone who wishes to do say may attend.

In lieu of flowers, contributions made in memory of Maria Ortega to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital will be greatly appreciated. A go-fund me page has been set up; we plan to send one lump sum donation in her name memorialized with either a plaque or a new building brick.
