Marcos's obituary

This guy with that big smile and huge love for his family, Marcos Jesse Sanchez, 51 - the one who fought til the moment he left for heaven on Thursday, December 23, 2021.  The son of Rev. Jesse and Lydia Sanchez, he was born on July 22, 1970 in Apple Valley, California.  Marcos grew up in Victorville, California giving everyone he met as a kid either a song in Spanish or English or a good kick- hopefully [just] in the shin.  He often was toted along to a conference or service because no one was “available” to babysit active Marcos.  He attended Victor Valley High School where he wrestled, worked his after school job, and bought his first car - a convertable Karmann Ghia.  After graduating from high school in 1989, because of that Ghia -he met Margery, the love of his life, began college, and worked serving in the restaurant.

In 1992, Marcos married his Ultimate Most, Margery (McDonald) Sanchez.  As a young married couple, Marcos worked at Red Lobster & Tony Roma’s full time, while Margery finished her degree.  Marcos and Margery began their family in 1996 and have 2 children, Margery Adriana (25) and Julian (22).  Marcos and Margery moved to Pensacola, Florida in 1997 where he graduated from the School of Ministry in Brownsville in 1999 and served as a children's pastor at the Riverside Assembly of God when they returned to California.  Marcos was an amazing full time Dad who was a great example to keep God as their first priority, loved to cook amazing meals, knew the secret of how to take out any laundry stain, shopped every single grocery aisle, drove countless miles for the kids' water polo, volleyball, and lacrosse practices and games, and daily filled the house with silly laughter, love, and his big personality —that is so greatly missed.

Marcos always had a smile on his face- whether it be sweet or mischievous.  He had a way to make time and listen to people, had a strong set of hands if you needed help to lift or move (or hold onto and squeeze), or give to someone in need —he loved to serve people.

He became an awesome cake baker, spending late nights on the awesome creations teamSanchez made for their hobby bakery.  He was an accomplished cook and loved to explore new unusual ingredients and was always excited to bring a new tasty dish to a holiday meal or family gathering.  Marcos was so proud and supportive of his family and loved to spend time with them whether it be at a theme park, camping on a road trip, or spending time at a National Park, the beach or mountains, or the next cruise adventure.

In 2015 Marcos was 2 classes from completing his degree at CSU San Bernardino, and he was diagnosed with sarcoma cancer.  Marcos changed his focus and spent every single day finding the best while daily battling for his life against every challenge that faced him.  When he lost his kidney with the first 2015 surgery that landed him on dialysis - he would use those long 4 hours to sing, pray, find new recipes, face time, and dream of new travel adventures.

Marcos will always be lovingly remembered by his wife of 29 years, Margery, his children, Margery Adriana and Julian; his brothers, Richard and Danny (Regina), sister Grace; and sister-in-laws Annamae (Jason), Carrie (Josh), and brother-in-laws James (Teresa), Ian (Noelle), and mother-in-law Margery McDonald and 8 nieces and 4 nephews, many cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Thank you for the prayers, love, and support of our family and friends along this journey.  A spring time celebration of life is planned, Marcos has asked loved ones to attend bringing a picture of you together with him and to write a prayer or scripture of encouragement to share.

Any gift donations in Marcos' honor may be given toward his medical bills at https://www.gofundme.com/f/Help-Marcos-Sarcoma-Surgery-Fund or to the family directly.
