FOND MEMORY

Mark was great as we were growing up. In the 5th grade he helped me stand up to a 6th grade bully. This kid made me a target and would always harass and threaten me. Mark’s older brother, Richard was friends with my dad; we LOVED Richard! My dad told Richard that I was being bullied. Richard agreed to come over to our house and show me how to defend myself. One day, Richard brought Mark over to my house. I was surprised that they were brothers. Mark and I were in the same class 4th through 6th grade at Park View. Mark knew who this kid (bully) was and wanted to help me. Mark convinced me that I could stand up to this kid and that he would have my back. One day after recess this bully started picking on me as we all were heading back to class because recess was over. Mark was with me and told me it was time to stand up to him. I told Mark that I thought that was a VERY bad idea as this kid was bigger and could kill me. LOL. Mark told me its the only way to stop him, and that if I hit the kid, as soon as the kid would start to fight back he would step in immediately and stop it, but at least the kid would know I would fight back. Well, me and this bully squared off on one another, and not a teacher in sight. This kid was taunting me to do something. He double-dog dared me. In fact, he may have TRIPLE-DOG dared as he stepped up as to hit me. But, before he could lay a hand on me, I slapped his face as hard as I could. Yes, “SLAPPED” and not punch. Mark thought my slap was a weird thing to do, but it worked. LOL. The kid stepped back in shock and before he could do anything, Mark jumped in between us and pushed this kid back. He told him to go to class and to never bother me again or he would have to deal with him. The kid never messed with me again. #heromarkmoment.

Even though Mark and I lost touch and this news of his passing saddens me deeply, I have nothing but fond and very funny memories of him. Again, so sorry for your loss. Good news, we will have eternity with him at some point!

Praying for you, Margery and family. You have our deepest condolences.

Love,

The Steward Family

Dennis & Carol

I am so sorry for your loss. I never knew Marcos personally, but can attest to the kind person that he was every time I’d see him visit Margery at work. Despite his struggles, he always had such a sweet smile and it was so nice to see.

My love and Prayers go out to the entire  Sanchez family 🙏🏼.
