Lynette's obituary
Lynette attended Wismar Primary School and then advanced to the Mc Kenzie High School. She graduated from the Cyril Potter College of Education in 1979, where she pursued a major in Home Economics and minor in English. In July 2000, she obtained a Diploma in Theology from The Assemblies of God Bible School in Guyana.
Upon leaving High School, Lynette commenced her teaching career on September, 7, 1966, at St. Aidan’s Anglican school. During her thirty six year teaching career she taught at several schools including Mills Secondary School in Trinidad and One Mile, Buxton Congregational, Stella Maris and Mon-Repos primary schools in Guyana. At age 55 she retired as Head Teacher at Strathspey Primary School. Her love, passion and commitment for teaching did not end there as post retirement she taught at the Dominion School and the Guyana School of Agriculture.
Lynette met the love of her life Leslie Allan Munroe on September 7, 1966; the day they both started to teach at St Aidan’s Anglican school. In her words “It was love for me at first sight.” Leslie and Lynette were joined in Holy Matrimony on August, 29, 1970. Their union produced five Children and ten Grand-Children. Shortly after their marriage, Lynette joined Leslie in Trinidad, where he was pursuing his undergraduate studies at the University of the West Indies. Upon their return to Guyana they resided for a brief period in the town of Linden. In 1976 they moved to Central Agricultural Station, (now NARI) in Mon-Repos where they resided and raised their family. They moved to Diamond in 2007 and were residing there at the time of her passing.
Lynette was an ardent poet. She was passionate about expressing life through poetry. She bid farewell and welcomed new months and years with poems as much as she did in praise. She wrote about her faith walk, the Christ like life that we should live and about the goodness of her Heavenly Father.
Lynette accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior in July 1966, was baptised the following month and became a member of Fruits of Calvary Assembly of God Church. While residing in Trinidad Lynette attended Eldorado Pentecostal Church. A devout and long standing member of Triumph Assembly of God Church, since 1976, she served in numerous capacities; as Sunday School Teacher, Service Leader, Exhorter of the Word of God, Deaconess, Treasurer, President of the Women’s Ministry, Deliverance Minister and Assistant Pastor. In the wider Assemblies of God Community she served as section 5 Women’s Ministry President and Secretary of the National Women’s Ministry. Lynette emigrated to the Unites of America in 2017. During her time in U.S she lived with her son and family, and actively attended Bethel Gospel Chapel NJ and Restoration Tabernacle, Brooklyn. Lynette lived a life devoted to God and truly understood the power of prayer. Hers was a prayerful life of love and service. She was always ready to offer a word of prayer for anyone who she came in contact with, even strangers, and she never ceased to testify about God’s goodness.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Seigefroy and Elouise Walcott and sibling Claudia Gunter. Left to mourn her transition are her devoted and faithful husband of 50 years, Leslie, 5 children- Dwayne Allan, Jeanenime Leslyn, Devin Aurick, Dannel Arvin and Janella Latoya, brothers Colwyn and Donald, sister Claudette, grandchildren-Roysdale Jr., Zawande, Kayla, Kelsey, Demar, Saranna, Gia, Thea, Tehani and Cataleya, her sons-in-law, Roysdale and Marvin, daughters-in-law, Tamara, Maria and Angela, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends. Undoubtedly, we will miss this Champion for God and the most amazing human being we have known.
